Are you passionate about empowering youth and creating lasting change in your community? Do you believe in the power of prevention and the importance of amplifying youth voices? Join us as a Youth Substance Use Prevention Coalition Representative (ages 16-20) at RHA Prevention Resource Centers, where you'll be at the forefront of a movement to reduce and delay youth substance use through advocacy, education, and collaboration.This is not just a job—it’s a mission. You’ll serve as a connector, a communicator, and a champion for young people, helping to shape a healthier, more resilient future.
- Location: Asheville/Buncombe
- Position Type: Part-Time, Temporary
- Reports to: Prevention Coordinator
- Salary Range: $15-17 hourly
Key Responsibilities:
Youth Advocacy & Engagement
- Act as a voice for youth in coalition meetings, community forums, and public events.
- Facilitate youth-led initiatives and empower young leaders to take active roles in prevention efforts.
- Create safe spaces for youth to share their experiences, ideas, and solutions.
Community Collaboration
- Build and maintain strong relationships with schools, local organizations, parents, and stakeholders.
- Coordinate and participate in community outreach events, workshops, and campaigns.
- Promote evidence-based prevention strategies tailored to the unique needs of the community.
Education & Awareness
- Develop and deliver engaging presentations and materials on youth substance use prevention.
- Stay informed on current trends, data, and best practices in prevention science.
- Use creative platforms (social media, art, storytelling, etc.) to raise awareness and inspire action.
Program Support & Evaluation
- Assist in planning, implementing, and evaluating coalition activities and programs.
- Collect and report data to measure impact and inform future strategies.
- Support grant writing and reporting efforts as needed.
What We’re Looking For
- A passionate advocate for youth with a strong commitment to prevention and equity.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, especially with young people.
- Experience in youth development, public health, education, or community organizing.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
- Creativity, flexibility, and a sense of humor are a plus!
