Deputy Project Manager-Alternative Delivery Division - (2502663) Position Information 

Join TxDOT's Alternative Delivery Division as a Deputy Project Manager with the Center of Excellence Section supporting the alternative delivery (design-build) program.

This position is based out of TxDOT's Stassney Campus in Austin and is well-suited to applicants looking for a constantly evolving and diverse workload. You will help plan and execute internal and external training programs including training sessions and large conference events; support program audits along with monitoring state and federal compliance; help manage a program with multiple portfolio and project types; monitor and respond to legislative and transportation commission actions; support strategic communications; and support the overall program management of alternative delivery projects with a focus on integrating with other TxDOT systems. This role requires an organized person able to manage multiple projects/assignments and collaborate with a diverse group of stakeholders to facilitate success.

You will join a highly motivated, talented, engaged, and dedicated team to help ensure oversight and compliance with applicable federal and state laws, policies, procedures, standards and guidelines. Work requires contact with District and Division personnel, governmental officials, and private entities. Employees at this level are virtually self-supervising and assume direct accountability for the work product.

 

Minimum Salary

: 65,104.00

: 106,634.00

Position Description

 

Coordinates program and project management activities for alternative delivery program (ADP). Responsible for ADP compliance, coordination of planning, design, construction, maintenance and operations with internal and external stakeholders. Reports to the Center of Excellence Section Director. Coordinates the work of professional and/or technical staff. Work requires contact with governmental agencies, officials and private entities. Employees at this level are virtually self-supervising and assume direct accountability for the work product.

Essential Duties:

  • Audits and ensures quality control processes of projects for the division and/or alternative delivery program.
  • Develops and/or interprets contract requirements and specifications in support of Alternative Delivery projects.
  • Develops, recommends and/or interprets policies and procedures regarding projects or program activities.
  • Prepares sensitive and high-level correspondence and technical reports.
  • Responsible for the timely response of project issues, conflicts, requests for Information and other documents submitted by the developer.
  • Plans, coordinates, executes and/or supports in-person, hybrid, and virtual meetings, training events and conferences.
  • Manages program-level procedures, training and resources; coordinates with subject matter experts to maintain relevance with program requirements.
  • Supports division's strategic communication efforts.
  • Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.
 

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Science, or a related discipline. Relevant work experience may be substituted for degree on a year per year basis. Substitutions for Minimum Qualifications

Experience: 4 years experience in transportation project development. (Experience can be satisfied by full time or prorated part time equivalent). Related graduate level education may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis.

Licenses and Certifications: Valid driver’s license. This position requires driving a state vehicle.

Physical Requirements And Working Conditions:

  • - Sedentary work: Lift up to 10 lbs at a time and occasionally carry files/small tools
  • - Repetitive Motion-substantial movements of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers
  • - Close Visual Acuity-work includes data/figures; view a computer screen; extensive reading
