What you will do

As the Lead Project Engineer, you will oversee and guide a Project Engineering team to achieve the goals and objectives of our Capital Programme. You will lead the execution of engineering projects within the company from concept, through project execution and onto final commissioning. Ensuring compliance with all design and construction safety and environmental regulations is a critical part of your role.

An important part of your role is problem solving, addressing issues and where necessary reporting progress to various levels within the organisation.  This includes planning, managing, and controlling ongoing engineering processes and activities, and coordinating with Engineering & Operations Managers and other key stakeholders to support project activities.

Additionally, you will track and report key performance indicators for work progress and project performance. Managing budgets, coaching and motivating your team, and continuing improving project management and engineering processes are also essential aspects of your role.

What you will need

You should have significant experience in steelworks engineering. A Master’s degree in Engineering and Chartered Engineer status is desirable but not essential. You need a solid understanding of engineering management, along with experience managing teams or significant strategic projects. Excellent communication skills are crucial, as you will represent the business externally and act as a company ambassador.

You must be able to effectively communicate at all levels and possess strong negotiating, networking, influencing, and presentation skills.
