The GO Expansion Project Delivery Office is seeking a Senior Manager, Northern Corridors, with strong construction experience to manage multiple projects, varying in design, construction and commissioning phases. This position requires technical expertise, project management and commercial experience in the planning, engineering, design, construction and administration of transit/rail capital infrastructure projects.
What will I be doing?
- Develops project strategies while providing overall administrative and technical leadership and oversight to the project to ensure coordination of efforts and successful completion.
- Plans, sets objectives and controls activities during the development, construction, commissioning and handover phase of the project in conjunction with applicable requirements and stakeholder endorsements.
- Leads a team to deliver collaboratively on activities for the project by supporting the facilitating the scopes, schedules and budget documents to ensure optimal coordination of projects throughout the network.
- Manage all aspects related to internal and external stakeholders as the project moves through its life cycle. Ensuring review timelines, comments and integration of these comments are met and agreed.
- This leader will be required to lead and support contract, agreements, changes associated with the program.
- This is a people leader role responsible to managing team of project delivery professionals, collaborate closely with both internal and external stakeholders, support senior leadership in on time delivery of critical infrastructure while minimizing impact to operations.
- Manages critical paths/milestones, by monitoring mechanisms for projects (e.g., budget, schedule, scope, risk, quality); regularly reports to Director and Senior Leadership on project status.
- Promotes a safe and healthy work environment; ensures project teams, contractors and trades comply with health, safety and environmental standards that meet or exceed legislated requirements.
- This position requires travel to site during construction at least twice a week and may require working out of a site office and during nights and major track closures.
- Completion of a degree or diploma in applied science, engineering, construction, railway engineering or a related discipline – or a combination of education, training and experience deemed equivalent
- Demonstrated project management experience related to the design, and construction and assurance of heavy passenger rail transit systems in a brown field and/or urban environments
- A valid Ontario Class G driver’s license is required to travel to various site locations, meetings, operational facilities, etc.
- Valid Professional Engineering (P.Eng.) license recognized by the Professional Engineers of Ontario (PEO), CET (Certified Engineering Technologist), C.Tech (Certified Technician) or equivalent qualifications.
- Completion of qualifications in the Canadian Rail Operating Rules (CROR) and the Metrolinx Personal Track Safety (PTS) course is an asset.
- Knowledge and experience working in railway corridor infrastructure and related construction
- Understands theories, principles and practices of civil and railway construction in an active railway corridor.
- Problem solving and analytical skills to evaluate and address contractor and supplier performance issues and recommend plans for improvement; to evaluate and address program impediments with the potential to disrupt or jeopardize the project and/or corporate objectives
- Knowledge of System Engineering and Safety Assurance processes is an asset
