Assistant Teaching Professor and Accreditation Officer, Education Studies
The Education Studies Department at Skidmore College invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track Assistant Teaching Professor and Accreditation Officer position beginning fall 2026. This is a renewable appointment with responsibilities in teaching and teacher education program accreditation. Faculty in the Education Studies Department prepare students for initial certification in New York State, grades 1-6. In addition, the Department’s on-campus lab school, the Early Childhood Center, provides a resource for teaching and research. The Education Studies Department holds national accreditation with AAQEP. Seven years of accreditation was granted in January 2023.
Responsibilities:
- Teach 3 courses (12 credits) per year in curriculum and instruction, elementary teaching methods (e.g., science, social studies).
- Accreditation Officer responsibilities include staying current on standards, requirements and expectations of our accreditation agency (AAQEP); managing data collection and analysis; completing annual accreditation reports; preparing for and co-writing the Quality Assurance Report required for reaccreditation; and preparing and managing the campus visit of the AAQEP review team for reaccreditation.
- Contribute to department initiatives.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of a PhD/EdD degree in Education
- Demonstrated excellence in teaching at the college and/or elementary level
- A robust commitment to undergraduate teacher education within a liberal arts context
- Experience with teacher education program accreditation
Salary: $73,301
