  • REPORTS TO: Executive Director and/or CEO
  • DIRECT REPORTS: School Age, After Care Program Staff
  • PAY RATE: $65,000 - $72,500 per year
  • STATUS: Full-time, year-round, Exempt
  • HOURS: Monday - Friday with varying hours

SUMMARY: Oversees the assigned operations of the Healthy Kids Programs in Brimingham, AL (partnership with Birmingham City Schools). In conjunction with the Executive Director and CEO, work to grow the organization’s footprint with Birmingham City Schools.  

  1. Growth Component: this means taking a leadership role in building revenue by actively increasing the number of SACC locations as well as licensing and launching the new quality programs.
  2. Operations Component: this means responsibility for the overall management of the Alabama-Birmingham City Schools state program including planning, organizing, implementing, and coordinating all aspects of the before and after school and summer programs. 
  3.  Work actively to increase the number of school age programs (if applicable).   
  4. Manage all aspects of school age programs with Birmingham City Schools including:
  5. Lead in a positive, upbeat, yet confident style with an emphasis on effective communication and addressing issues head on. Maintaining a "can-do", results driven, positive attitude - all while working in a safe, g-rated environment.
  6. Be sure all programs maintain enrolled children and staff and children files are organized and up to date.
  7. Oversee new hires on the Paylocity system to be sure they complete the new hire requirements on time.
  8. Act as Paylocity Payroll Supervisor overseeing staff time and attendance schedules and hours focusing on efficiently managing the largest expense – payroll.
  9. Work closely with the Registration Department to ensure that all students that should be in the programs have completed paperwork, as well as a detailed schedule to be sure programs are staffed accordingly with enrolled children.
  10. Work with the Recruiting Department to post for immediate job positions, be proactive in scheduling and setting up interviews, and hire as needed.
  • School Age Growth: Develop a contact list for districts in your region, reach out to potential new schools, schedule virtual or in person pitch meetings, complete the licensing process and launch new programs.
  • Summer camp growth: Add 3-5 new summer camp programs annually in your region.
  • Operations Component: Follow all regulatory guidelines, take the initiative, and make decisions in the best interest of the organization including but not limited to, budgeting, policies, procedures, and staff supervision, run very high-quality programs while controlling costs, over time this will involve implementing a middle tier management structure for Directors/Area Managers to manage the operations.
  • Program quality: Training/compliance, curriculum, and best practices, curriculum implementation for school age, monthly observations, weekly visits to sites, monthly file and drill audits.
  • Staff quality, with a special focus on: Staff development – weekly individual meetings with Regional Directors, Area Managers, Site Directors, and/or Multi Site Directors. Monthly group Regional Director meetings, monthly Site (MultiSite) Director/Supervisor meetings. Staff connectedness, especially new staff routine check-ins.
  • Strategic issues: Solving the subbing concerns, developing future directors/lead teachers (SACC credential/CDA program) Connecting regularly with Marketing/Registration and HR. Being an overall progressive leader while ensuring quality, excellence, and implementing Healthy Kids and state specific best practices.
  • Strategic priorities: Ensure payroll aligns exactly with enrollment, stay on top of enrollment to recruit as needed. 

Job Consists Of:

  • Liaison with the Executive Director/CEO to develop a plan and implement a growth strategy that increases the number of before/after school and summer programs every year.
  • Recruit, supervise, professionally develop, and train highly qualified staff to deliver a consistent, high-quality service for all partnerships.
  • License and manage an operation that follows all local regulations guidelines.
  • Follow Healthy Kids Best Practices and Curriculum that serve as the foundation for Healthy Kids “Consistent Excellence” Philosophy. Adhere to and consistently enforce companies Code of Conduct and Policies & Procedures. 
  • Use superior management skills and excellent parent and staff communication skills.
  • Help create a warm, nurturing, positive, safe program environment.
  • Prevent problems with proactive management and handle those that happen in an effective, consistent, and positive manner that emphasizes good communication.
  • Maintain good working relationships with school administration and licensors.
  • Become an expert in licensing in Alabama regulations which involves taking required, ongoing growth development courses.
  • Oversee and maintain all licenses and be sure all programs are in compliance.
  • Become an expert with Playground and the services this program offers.
  • Visit programs regularly and provide needed feedback.
  • Monitor and address performance issues in a timely manner so that personnel understand their areas of improvement and have the chance to bring their skills up to our standards of excellence timely.
  • Coach all site leaders on professional development and career path opportunities.

Requirements

  • 5-10 years of supervisory/management experience. 
  • 5-10 years’ experience working in childcare or a related field.
  • Bachelor’s degree in childcare, Elementary Education, Business, or Finance. 

Must Also Possess:

  • History of successfully licensing and launching new program locations resulting in new revenue streams.
  • Multi-site management experience.
  • Strong work ethic, results oriented, get it done attitude.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to demonstrate flexibility and adaptability.
  • Track record of working in and creating a team-oriented work environment.
  • Ability to build relationships among managers, coworkers, and employees.

  • Must pass full background check including fingerprinting and reference checking.
