What You’Ll Be Doing

The Senior Accountant will lead core accounting functions for Thousand Oaks Plumbing, including support month-end and year-end closings, maintaining compliance with GAAP, and upholding company financial policies. This role requires strong analytical and problem-solving skills, a high level of independence, and ideally prior experience within a residential home services industry in HVAC or plumbing. The Senior Accountant will work closely with operations and leadership teams to deliver accurate financial reporting, provide actionable insights, and support the company’s ongoing growth and performance goals.

• Manage month-end and year-end closing activities for the assigned business unit 
• Process Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable transactions
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal policies.
• Support job costing, work-in-progress (WIP) schedules, and project-based financial tracking.
• Prepare a variance report comparing standard costs to actual production costs; analyze operational variances and production efficiencies. 
• Accurately enter financial transactions, maintain records and ensure proper documentation for auditing and compliance. 
• Provide support during audits and help gather required documentation
• Analyze inventory related errors, provide feedback to warehouse and develop root cause and associated actions to correct problems identified. 
• Partner with operations to review profitability by service line and business unit.
• Maintain internal controls and process improvements.

Requirements

What We’re Looking For

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Minimum of 5 years experience in accounting, preferably in the residential home services industry.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting.
• Experience with job costing and WIP schedules preferred.
• Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and problem-solving ability.
• Proficient in accounting software  (e.g. Sage Intacct or similar); experience with Service Titan a plus.
• Advanced Excel skills and ability to analyze large data sets.
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across departments.
