Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled System Integration Engineer for Automotive Applications – HW specialist to join our team in Modugno, Italy.
The System Integration Engineer for Automotive Applications works for development of state of the art cross domain products, integrating HW electronics and embedded SW. The responsibility includes system integration activities from initial concept requirement elicitation to development for series release. The focus is on design of next generation software architecture for future vehicles (motorbike, passenger cars, commercial vehicles, and off-road applications).
- Handling and tracking of SW changes. Perform change impact analysis of the requested change. Clarification with function development team and calibration team of the functional impact on the system.
- Understand and debug hardware and software during design, launch, and deployment.
- Develop and optimize algorithms with possible support of model-based methodology for rapid prototyping
- Test case and methods definition, implementation, and execution to ensure requirements fulfillment on either SiL, HiL and target system
- xCU Testing & Verification at system level for evaluation of interaction between HW and embedded software, including electrical measurement, signal integrity, and power management analysis
- Integrating hardware electronics with embedded software for cross-domain automotive products. Defining, validating, and optimizing the hardware aspects of next-generation software architectures across a diverse range of vehicles
- Perform detailed analysis and debugging of complex automotive electronic hardware (xCUs, sensors, actuators)
- Actively participate in defining and validating the hardware-software interfaces, ensuring robust communication and functional integrity
Qualifications
We’re looking for a highly motivated and technically skilled professional with a strong background in electronics, control systems, and automotive technologies. The ideal candidate combines a deep understanding of hardware-software interaction with hands-on experience in system design and diagnostics.
Required Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Mechatronics Engineering, Control Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, or a related field
- Solid experience with automotive communication and diagnostic protocols such as CAN, LIN, FlexRay, and UDS
- Strong system-level understanding of hardware/software integration, particularly in powertrain applications
- Proven experience in the design, testing, or integration of automotive ECUs (xCUs) and their underlying hardware components
- Sound knowledge of analog and digital electronics, power electronics, and sensor technologies
- Experience in reviewing electrical schematics and PCB layouts to ensure design for testability, manufacturability, and system integration
- Familiarity with the selection and qualification of electronic components for robustness and compliance with automotive standards
- Proficiency in using hardware debugging tools (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, multimeters) and in-circuit emulators
- Hands-on experience with network analysis tools (e.g. CANoe/CANalyzer, Vehicle Spy) for diagnostics and performance optimization
- Ability to leverage AI-based tools (e.g. LLMs) to increase efficiency and productivity
- Experience in system modelling (SysML)
- Familiarity with various microcontroller architectures
- Knowledge of automotive cybersecurity principles and functional safety concepts, including ISO 26262 requirements
- High motivation, a proactive mindset, and the willingness to take responsibility
- Independent, goal-oriented working style with strong analytical and coordination skills
