Comcast NBCUniversal has announced its intent to create a new publicly traded company ('Versant') comprised of most of NBCUniversal's cable television networks, including USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, SYFY and Golf Channel along with complementary digital assets Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, GolfPass, and SportsEngine. The well-capitalized company will have significant scale as a pure-play set of assets anchored by leading news, sports and entertainment content. The spin-off is expected to be completed during 2025.

Job Description

The VP, Production (UTAS) will manage and oversee production for unscripted programming reporting into the SVP, Production at Universal Television Alternative Studio.  This role will partner with studio and network executives on the entire production process from budget through post.  

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Plan and manage the physical production for UTAS pilots, sizzles, trailers and series
  • Oversee on-set production employees to ensure best-in-class productions as well as drive efficiencies and economies of scale
  • Act as main point of contact between the studio and creative teams for managing day-to-day details of production planning and logistics, including working with production companies on budgeting, calendar, crew, logistics & insurance and  facilitating necessary approvals between BA, Production Legal, Marketing, Scheduling/Programming, Labor Relations & Publicity
  • Work with, collaborate and communicate with Universal Television Alternative Studio, Network and 3rd Party executives and producers on all production and post-production plans
  • Ability to manage several projects at once and travel to set locations as necessary
  • Create and build new relationships, as well as maintain existing relationships with Production Companies, line producers and below-the line staff who work with or will work with Universal Television Alternative Studio 

Qualifications

Basic Requirements:

  • Minimum 10 years work experience in a production capacity within the television industry, including experience as a production executive on documentaries, true-crime, and/or docuseries

Desired Characteristics:

  • Proven production management experience in the Studio Television market
  • Enthusiastic and highly motivated self-starter
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, innovative, and high energy environment
  • Team player with relationship building skills and ability to collaborate to achieve goals
  • Flexibility and an ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment

Additional Requirements:

  • Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week.
