Description:
The Lead Security Guard is responsible for maintaining the park in a safe and secure condition. The Lead Security Guard will perform patrols throughout their work shift and address any Guest and/or Staff security concerns that may emerge. Lead Security Guard is responsible for protecting zoo assets. The Lead Security Guard will be responsible for communication of Severe Weather responses and participate in all of the zoo’s emergency protocols. The Lead Security Guard is responsible for the coordination of parking guests when required. Work hours must be flexible and will include working weekends, holidays, and after hour events as assigned.
Duties And Responsibilities:
- Responsible for performing park wide security patrols throughout assigned shift.
- Responsible for identifying any incidents and reporting them to direct supervisor.
- Responsible for monitoring weather conditions and communicating status to zoo staff and guests when action is required.
- Responsible for ensuring that the zoo’s Security Systems are in working order.
- Responsible for coordinating staff efforts in efficiently parking guests when they arrive and assisting them when exiting.
- Responsible for preparation of incident reports for any occurrences during the shift.
- Responsible for assisting the Safety and Security Manager with scheduling of other department members.
- Responsible for assisting the Safety and Security Manager with maintenance of security related records and forms.
- Will act as an additional contact point for team members in reference to calling in sick or late notifications.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Skills:
- Ability to self-direct work tasks while ensuring safety and productivity.
- Ability to work with little or no supervision.
- Ability to interact professionally with both staff and visitors.
- Ability to respond to guest disturbances in a fashion that minimizes any negative affect to the zoo and our other guests.
- Ability to prepare accurate written daily incident reports and logs at end of each shift.
- Ability to effectively orally communicate emergency situations and initiate response to all staff and our guests when required.
Education/ Experience:
Education: Minimum High School diploma or GED equivalent required.
Experience: Must have a minimum of two (2) years' experience working in the Security field.
Physical Responsibilities:
Must be able to work outside year round in inclement weather conditions such as extreme high/low temperatures, snow and rain conditions. Must be able to work on his or her feet for extended periods of time and the ability to bend, stoop, extend oneself etc., that is required to perform assigned tasks. Must be able to lift and carry a minimum of 50 pounds.
