  • Role Overview:

The role is responsible for the implementation of global policies and procedures across all Smith+Nephew Business Units in the Japanese Market and will provide analysis and interpretation of potential risk and will support the business to mitigate potential risks. The RCO in this position will ensure the effective functioning of key compliance controls relating to interactions with Healthcare Professionals and Third Parties and will ensure that our interactions are in accordance with local laws and Industry Body regulations as well as the S+N Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures. The role will be a Hybrid role located in Tokio, Japan.
Responsibilities:

  Drives the effective functioning of the Global Compliance & Privacy Program and provides in-depth knowledge of the business, business practices, and competitive landscape to Business Unit Leads in Japan.

  Conducts Market and Business Risk Assessments, develops risk mitigation plans, and ensures effective implementation. Partners with the business team to understand third-party strategy and ensures compliance risks are considered and mitigated.

  Ensures timely and accurate submission of all applicable Transparency Reporting requirements.

  Takes the lead for third-party-related compliance activities in the market, including assessing due diligence reports, identifying and addressing red flags, making recommendations on the use of third parties, and ensuring that third parties are processed in line with company policy before engagement.

  Drives the preparation of local procedures based on global policies and ensures that all procedures are communicated regularly to applicable employees.

  Training, Education, and Communication (employees): Delivers compliance and privacy trainings for employees, including new hire onboarding, role-specific training, refresher, and issue-based training. Tracks and records delivery of training and communications.

  Investigations: Assists in investigations as requested and ensures investigative processes are followed.

  Monitoring: Completes local monitoring programs where required to test the effectiveness and implementation of compliance controls in the market.

  Corrective & Preventive Action: Drives timely completion of corrective and preventive actions.

  Conducts quarterly Compliance Committee meetings with the Leadership Team in Japan.

Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent (Professional degree is beneficial) Licenses/ Certifications: Compliance Officer Certification is beneficial
 

  • Experience:
  • 7+ years of experience related to implementing and managing compliance programs.
  • Healthcare, medical device or pharmaceutical industry knowledge and experience required.
  • Experience in Data Privacy is beneficial.
  • Competences: Good command / proficient in spoken and written English, Native speaker Japanese, Project Management Skills, Ability to follow through and complete tasks on time
