Job Description

We are seeking a highly experienced Lead Electrical Engineer to oversee electrical design and engineering execution across diverse and complex projects. This role involves managing discipline-level budgets, directing design workflows, and mentoring engineering teams from entry-level to senior staff. You will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems into the built environment.

You will lead the design of power distribution, lighting, grounding/bonding, special systems (e.g., telecom/data, security, fire alarm), and electrical controls. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, technical expertise, and project management capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage electrical design teams across all project phases—from concept to construction administration.
  • Develop and oversee electrical system designs that meet code requirements and client specifications.
  • Coordinate with architects, engineers, construction managers, vendors, and manufacturers.
  • Prepare and review technical documentation including one-line diagrams, load calculations, specifications, and installation details.
  • Utilize BIM and CAD tools for modeling and documentation.
  • Conduct field surveys and resolve non-compliant conditions.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to internal training programs.
  • Manage project budgets and schedules for the electrical discipline.
  • Support proposal development and client engagement efforts.
  • Drive quality assurance through document reviews and technical verification.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or Engineering Technology (ABET-accredited).
  • 10+ years of experience in electrical engineering within the AEC industry.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) registration in good standing.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in GMP manufacturing environments.
  • Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Advanced knowledge of electrical codes and standards (NFPA, IESNA, UL, OSHA, IEEE).
  • Expertise in electrical system design, calculations, and troubleshooting.
  • Strong coordination skills across disciplines and with construction partners.
  • Ability to travel for client meetings, project execution, and training.
