The AST Engineering Center is currently seeking a Software Engineer I to be an integral part of project teams that develop systems that provide integrated sensor and signal processing products in support of intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance that protect your family, your nation, and enhance global security. In this position, you will apply your C++ software development experience to design, implement, integrate, and test software applications supporting advanced high-capacity systems that process modern communications for the U.S. Government.
*** The work location is our Silicon Valley Office located in north San Jose, CA. The flexible workplace roles offered for this position allow you to work mostly in the office (Onsite) or work a combination of both onsite and offsite.
What You Will Do:
- Develop object-oriented C++ software solutions in a Linux environment.
- Put your understanding of the software development lifecycle to use
- Write Python, MATLAB, and/or similar scripting/programming languages in a Linux software development environment.
- Work independently and in a small team environment.
What You Will Learn:
- You will learn COMINT/ELINT principles and concepts and work side-by-side with industry recognized technical leaders to develop and implement state of the art systems.
- You will learn software engineering in all aspects - requirements, design, implementation, testing
- You will learn how to work on a fast-paced team to tackle difficult challenges in an ever-evolving field
Qualifications You Must Have:
- Requires a Bachelor’s degree and 12 months or less of relevant professional work experience (excluding internships)
- The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
Qualifications We Prefer:
- Experience with the Qt software development framework.
- Experience with web development technologies/toolkits such as JavaScript (Node.js, D3.js), PHP, HTML5, CSS, Angular, or Google Web Toolkit (GWT)
- Experience with digital signal processing and/or communication systems
- Familiarity with debugging software in embedded computing environments.
- Familiarity with using version control and defect tracking tools (Git, JIRA, etc.).
- Familiarity with Agile/SCRUM, DevOps, and test automation practices.
- Knowledge of network and communication protocols (e.g., TCP/IP).

The salary range for this role is 62,000 USD - 118,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
