The Tactical Situational Awareness (TSA) group in the Tactical, Communications, and Maintenance Applications (TCMA) department is seeking a highly motivated Software Engineer to join our team focused on innovation and the development of cutting-edge products. In this role, you will leverage your expertise in software design, development, and integration to advance next-generation avionics systems that enhance pilot awareness and operational safety. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver innovative solutions that enable precise decision-making in complex environments. This position is on site in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
What You Will Do:
- Design, develop, test, and integrate software solutions for Tactical Situational Awareness systems in avionics.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including systems engineers, hardware engineers, and product managers, to define software requirements and deliver high-quality solutions.
- Focus on innovation by contributing to new product development efforts, exploring emerging technologies, and creating prototypes for future avionics systems.
- Develop algorithms and models for real-time data fusion, visualization, and decision-support systems.
- Ensure software meets safety-critical requirements and complies with industry standards such as DO-178C.
- Conduct performance analysis and optimization to meet system-level goals for reliability, latency, and efficiency.
- Participate in Agile development processes, including sprint planning, code reviews, and continuous integration/delivery pipelines.
- Stay current with advancements in avionics, artificial intelligence, and related technologies to drive innovation.
Qualifications You Must Have:
- Requires a Bachelor’s degree and 12 months or less of relevant professional work experience (excluding internships).
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract
Qualifications We Prefer:
- Experience in software development using languages such as Ada, Java, C++, Python, or Java.
- Familiarity with avionics systems, real-time operating systems (RTOS), and embedded software development.
- Strong understanding of data processing, sensor integration, and human-machine interface design.
- Knowledge of Agile development methodologies and tools (e.g., JIRA, Git, Jenkins).
- Experience with DO-178C or other safety-critical software development standards.
- Background in machine learning, artificial intelligence, or advanced data analytics.
- Hands-on experience with avionics systems, including flight displays, navigation systems, or communication protocols.
- Familiarity with innovation processes, such as prototyping, patent writing, or technology scouting.

The salary range for this role is 55,000 USD - 107,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
