PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE ROLE: Oversees liability claims operations, guiding examiners and technical staff. Manages workloads, provides training, and ensures proper adjudication through technical/jurisdictional direction. Maintains active diaries, especially for complex or high-exposure claims.
Essential Responsiblities May Include
- Supervise a team of claim examiner and/or technical operations colleagues; delegate duties as needed.
- Advise management on trends, issues, and process improvements; coordinate office projects.
- Provide technical/jurisdictional guidance on claims adjudication and review reserve amounts on high-cost claims.
- Perform quality reviews to ensure compliance with audit, contract, and service standards.
- Act as second-level appeal authority for client and claimant issues; finalize appeal dispositions.
- Monitor third-party, litigated, vocational rehabilitation, questionable, and sensitive claims.
- Maintain client communication, recommend actions based on claim status, and provide written summaries as requested.
- Ensure direct reports are properly licensed and claims files are accurately coded and documented.
- Administers personnel policies and adheres to staffing and training standards.
- Interviews, hires, and develops performance plans; conducts performance reviews.
- Provides guidance and motivation to support high team performance.
Education & Licensing: 6 years of claims management and litigation experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required. 2 years of supervisory experience
- High School Diploma or GED required. Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred.
- Professional certification as applicable to line of business preferred.
Licensing / Jurisdiction Knowledge: Multi-state Experience Required | home state licensing

As required by law, Sedgwick provides a reasonable range of compensation for roles that may be hired in jurisdictions requiring pay transparency in job postings. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide range of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and cost of specific location. For the jurisdiction noted in this job posting only, the range of starting pay for this role is ($72,000 - $100,000). A comprehensive benefits package is offered including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, 401k and matching, PTO, disability and life insurance, employee assistance, flexible spending or health savings account, and other additional voluntary benefits.
