Overall purpose of the role
Leads Oncology strategy, portfolio and operations to partner with EVP Oncology in developing and communicating a unified Oncology strategy, establishing and advancing a high value development and commercial portfolio. Manages and drives effective decision framework for pipeline management, ensures efficient project execution, leverages technology and process innovation proactively to continuously improve drug development and commercialization. Member of the Oncology LT and liaises closely with Commercial, Finance, R&D, Strategy, BD, and other functional teams across the company to deliver significant increase in Oncology portfolio value and approvals.
Major Responsibilities
Support EVP Oncology in setting and communicating a winning Oncology Strategy, aligned across various stakeholders
- Lead periodic strategy creation/review and communication process for Oncology internally and externally, including management of any governance bodies
- Maintain a detailed, up-to-date and holistic view of current and anticipated future state of Oncology: Deep awareness of current and future unmet needs and value pools, competitive product portfolios, clinical pipeline, and scientific MOA and drug modality advances that can pose threat or present opportunity for Oncology business, globally
- Identify options to lead in key diseases and associated opportunities for the short, mid, and long-term leadership
Enable impactful pipeline decisions and transitions via transparent and objective portfolio management across drug and non-drug (e.g., data/AI investments) projects, globally:
- Evaluation of individual business cases with consistent processes and standards
- Enable trade-offs and decisions that strengthen the portfolio, facilitating re-prioritization as data emerge/ plans deviate
- Conduct periodic end-to-end portfolio performance reviews / health checks to set portfolio thresholds and goals
- Provide Oncology portfolio analytics to enterprise wide and external stakeholders via dashboards and reports
- Manage governance for pipeline management within Oncology, supporting EVP Oncology
Help EVP Oncology establish a practice changing pipeline
- Drive / liaise with BD and M&A teams to search, evaluate, drive diligence, develop financial valuation and strategic fit assessments for external assets and companies to strengthen Oncology portfolio. Ensure rigor in both in and out bound activities.
- Oversee and evaluate phase transition/ pipeline progression business cases for internal pipeline
- Work closely with commercial functions to ensure applications of methodology standards and transparency on market research and revenue forecasts
Advance pipeline towards patients with a sense of urgency: Accountable for project team operations via project management across Oncology portfolio
- Manage cross functional teams via a high-quality project management organization to deliver projects within approved timelines and budget
- Accountable for consistently applying and improving processes for program planning, new team creation, resource management, program tracking, and reporting. Establish necessary training programs.
- Manage an operational excellence team to identify and drive integration of externa best practices, process and technology/ AI innovations with potential to accelerate, derisk, and reduce costs of projects
- Accountable for ensuring successful integration of new assets / capabilities into project teams and portfolio, upon acquisition, in-licensing
Partner with Oncology LT in internal and external representation as required Accountable for managing a high performing team

Qualifications
- PhD in biomedical/ life science/ healthcare discipline with 15+ years of biopharma, precision medicine experience
- Significant consulting and strategy experience in top tier consulting company
- Prior corporate strategy, portfolio management, and BD experience highly desirable
- Deep knowledge of pharma and oncology R&D, with experience in drug development
- Strong analytical and financial acumen. Highly skilled problem solver with strong communication and influencing skills
- Clear track record of innovation and process leadership is preferred
- Demonstrated global team leadership in an operational role within a complex, matrixed organization

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $256,100.00 to $426,800.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer’s Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 30.0% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
