Job Description

Guidewire Pricing And Rating Team

We are part of the team responsible for building and maintaining an insurance pricing platform, which enables insurers to quickly build advanced pricing models and deploy them to production. Leveraging a modern technology stack, machine learning libraries and cloud infrastructure (AWS, Docker, Kubernetes), the platform ensures scalability, performance, and security - driving higher profitability for insurers and greater satisfaction for policyholders.

The pricing and rating team has been recently acquired and merged, and you will be involved in a key strategic initiative of Guidewire, receiving significant focus and momentum, particularly from a recruitment and resources perspective.

Our teams take ownership of all aspects of the software development lifecycle for their services, including architecture, coding, quality assurance, infrastructure, and deployment strategies. We actively cooperate with the product team on a daily basis as well as cooperate with sales and customers success teams to drive our product excellence. We value extreme feedback, knowledge sharing, and technical guidance within the team.

This role is primarily remote, with flexible working hours. Occasional in-person meetings are required.

What We'Re Looking For:

• 10+ years of professional experience in software engineering, including 5+ years in leadership roles managing teams.
• Demonstrated success in building, scaling and leading teams of 15+ engineers, working with Python and cloud projects.
• Proven ability to deliver against a long-term technical roadmap, with strong skills in effective communication and providing clarity across stakeholders.
• Experience working at the intersection of multiple technology teams, effectively coordinating and aligning efforts across domains.
• Experience in managing distributed teams, fostering collaboration and maintaining high performance in remote/hybrid environments.
• Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, allocate resources effectively, and balance strategic initiatives with operational priorities.
• A strong passion for continual learning, a high sense of responsibility and ability to work in a candid feedback environment. 
• Excellent proficiency in English, with proven experience leading and collaborating in international, English-speaking environments.

What You’Ll Do:

• Define and communicate clear team priorities that support the organization’s broader strategic goals; ensure close alignment of strategies, processes, and decision-making across multiple teams.
• Build, lead, and inspire distributed development teams by fostering a culture of high performance, accountability, and continuous learning, leveraging mentorship and coaching to grow high-performing engineers and future leaders.
• Prepare the development teams for scaling and lead recruitment processes, ensuring the attraction and retention of top engineering talent.
• Champion software development and documentation best practices, ensuring designs meet both technical and business requirements and that projects are delivered on schedule with a high level of quality.
• Oversee and validate system designs, ensuring architectural decisions are robust and scalable within the context of broad technical domains.
• Collaborate regularly with product and business teams to develop and execute quarterly plans, ensuring alignment and transparency in delivery.
