Job Title: Quality Compliance Specialist, Laboratory Services

SUMMARY:
Coordinates and supports all regulatory activities for all Rochester Regional Health acute care labs and pathology (College of American Pathologists, TJC, AABB, FDA, NYS DOH etc). Coordinates site-specific quality management programs in conjunction with local Laboratory Director(s), service line and system quality programs (eg RRH Quality & Safety Institute) and the RRH system Quality Plan. Ensures constant inspection readiness at all sites. Works with local laboratory operations and clinical leadership to harmonize and standardize policies, practices and best practices and implement a system-wide document control system.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinates and supports all regulatory activities for Rochester Regional Health acute care labs and pathology (College of American Pathologists, TJC, AABB, FDA, NYS DOH, DNV etc)
- Ensures each site has a Quality Manager as defined by NYS Department of Health Clinical Laboratory Evaluation Program (CLEP).
- Assists each site's Lab/Quality Manager & Medical Director with development and successful implementation of a quality management plan, including all required QC and QA measures and documentation and appropriate QI initiatives.
- Ensures quality plans of each lab are consistent with and support the system Quality Plan.
- Oversees each lab's involvement in Rochester Regional Health quality event reporting, including overseeing event responses in conjunction with local Lab Manager(s), Quality Liaison(s), Quality & Safety Institute, clinical and nursing leadership.
- Supports all on-site regulatory and accreditation inspections for all sites (or ensures appropriate back-up)
- Works with local Managers & Lab Directors to respond in a timely fashion to all inspection or other quality related findings; shares findings, needed corrective action and best practices across sites.
- Supports implementation of a document control system for policies and procedures across Rochester Regional health Hospital Labs and Pathology sites.
Required Qualifications:
- BS in Medical Technology or BS in a related Science and/or equivalent relevant experience as recognized by New York State Department of Education for licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist. (NYS Dept of Education, Education Law, article 165, 8605-9/1/06).
- Must have a valid NYS driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Current New York State Department of Education License or Limited Permit as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist preferred.
- Certification by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) preferred.
- Experience as a Medical Technologist, Histotechnologist, or Cytotechnologist preferred
- Previous leadership experience and/or experience in a lead role in multidisciplinary quality/regulatory compliance initiatives preferred.

It may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
