Responsible for high-level planning, strategy, optimization, and documentation of network infrastructure solutions. Analyzes current and emerging technologies and provides technical consulting and recommendations based on assessments of the organization's network technology needs. Translates business requirements into network or process designs and serves as the lead networking subject matter expert in support of business expansion.

  • Thorough understanding of network connectivity including but not limited to Virtual Private Networks (VPN), IPSEC protocol, IP addressing, DNS, Ports, protocols, and associated services. Ability to understand documented Interconnection Agreements, and translate technical language into architecture drawings.
  • Ability to identify system security gaps on existing design or in documentation.
  • Plan and perform mid-level engineering analysis, evaluation, design, integration, documentation, and implementation of network connectivity solutions.
  • Ability to develop and update Security Impact Assessments (SIA).
  • Able to adjust existing interconnection diagram to reflect new updates within an Interconnection Agreement.
  • Ability to engage in meetings and capture interconnection requirements into architecture design.
  • Writes technical and business documentation regarding network infrastructure.
  • Leads high level scoping and costing activities of network infrastructure implementation.
  • Participates and contributes to the overall strategy, design and documentation of networks.
  • Plans and implements highly complex changes to the network environment.
  • Creates presentations/solutions and articulate plans to leadership and stakeholders.
  • Collaborates with business users, technical staff and management to define business and technical requirements.
  • Evaluates and recommends new products, maintains knowledge of emerging technologies for application to the enterprise based on business requirements.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or other related field or equivalent relevant experience. Master’s Degree preferred. (an additional 4 years of experience can be substituted for a degree)
  • Familiarity with NIST 800-47.
  • 8-15 years of experience in network administration
  • Security Certifications such as Security+ or CISSP is a plus

Other Job Specific Skills

  • Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Visio.
  • Excellent business and technical communication skills, both written and oral, and the ability to convey results in a persuasive manner and at the appropriate level of detail.
  • Experience architecting, designing, implementing, and maintaining complex network infrastructures.
  • Proven ability to assist in providing technology analysis, recommendation and business case development for client requests requiring new or enhanced products/services to ensure development of efficient systems in alignment with company strategic direction.
  • Proven ability to conduct vendor/product analysis, evaluation, certification and recommendation of new or enhanced IT vendor products/services.
  • Proven ability to develop and manage infrastructure design patterns, standards, blueprints, application frameworks, configurations, product technical solutions and roadmap.
  • Excellent technical knowledge of network, security and storage infrastructure including: local area networks, wide area networks, wireless networking, VPN, firewalls, routers, switches, load balancers, WAN optimizers, endpoint security and encryption, proxy servers, digital certificates, data center management and cabling standards.
  • Superior knowledge of networking hardware, software, standards, best practices, and industry trends.
  • Familiarity with the NIST 800-53 Rev4/5, FedRAMP, Risk Management Framework, Security Controls, and the Federal Information Security Modernization Act (FISMA) operating standards and applicable guidelines
  • Highly analytical and logical; skilled at problem analysis and problem resolution at both a strategic and tactical level.
  • Experience engaging with client leadership as required.

Compensation ranges for ASM Research positions vary depending on multiple factors; including but not limited to, location, skill set, level of education, certifications, client requirements, contract-specific affordability, government clearance and investigation level, and years of experience. The compensation displayed for this role is a general guideline based on these factors and is unique to each role. Monetary compensation is one component of ASM's overall compensation and benefits package for employees.
