This is a full-time position with 1st shift hours, with potential Saturday availability. This position is eligible for full benefits (medical, dental & vision), 401K, paid vacation, discounted downtown parking, free employee meals, hotel and restaurant discounts and more.
Summary
The Receiver is responsible for receiving all products delivered to the Marriott hotels (JW Marriott, Courtyard by Marriott and the AC Marriott) storing product, delivering product to the various departments and hotels. As well as keeping purchasing and receiving areas organized and clean.
Essential Functions
• Primary task will be handling deliveries of food product and other goods that come into the hotels. Accuracy of packing slips will be verified, and packing slips will be compared to purchase orders to verify accuracy of delivery.
• Basic understanding of food quality required, in order to determine if product being delivered should be accepted.
• Storing and rotation of product in the hotel storerooms.
• Deliver products to the Courtyard and AC in a timely and efficient manner. Communicate with kitchen management and purchasing management any missing product.
• Deliver product (BEO items) to other hotel departments.
• Daily temperature readings on all hotel coolers and freezers.
• Clean and maintain the dock area.
• Maintain recycling program.
• Clean and organize storeroom area.
• Assist accounting department with month end beverage inventory counts.
• Assist accounting department with monthly food inventory counts.
• Utilize Birch Street purchasing software to receive all PO’s, fulfill requisitions, and take inventory.
• Oversee receiving and distribution of all goods according to the requisition and company procedures; inspect to ensure supplies/product is in good condition before accepting; know what items are not available; replace and rotate stock in correct place as soon as possible; keep proper inventory levels stocked.
• Match invoices against delivered goods, reviewing for accuracy, quality, quantity, as well as weights as necessary.
• Maintain precise records, files, reports, contracts, etc.; remain within budget for department, projects and/or supplies. Oversee accurate and up-to-date package log; deliver all packages to the designated locations in a timely manner.
• Assist with inventories and month end closing procedures.
• Review and monitor internal control procedures at the hotel including but not limited to Room Operations, Food & Beverage, Banquets and Retail.
• Plan, organize and conduct detailed analytical studies to define problems, identify operational deficiencies and develop solutions which enhance the hotels effectiveness and provide the basis for management decisions.

• Strive to work in an accident-free manner and to create a safe work environment for others. To continuously look for conditions which may endanger associates or guests of the hotel and to take immediate action to correct any hazardous conditions found.
• Maintain a thorough log of each day’s activities and problems that occur ensuring this information is passed on to the Finance and Accounting Management on a weekly basis.
• Work in a neat and efficient manner, keeping work areas clean and well organized. To serve as otherwise directed or needed to help maintain the effective and efficient operation of the hotel. This assignment shall be at the discretion of Finance and Accounting Management or the hotel General Manager.

• The JW Marriott Hotel Grand Rapids functions seven (7) days a week twenty four (24) hours a day. All associates must realize this fact and be aware that at times it may be necessary to move associates from their accustomed shifts as business demands. In addition, it is understood that business determines the amount of hours which are worked and that some weeks the associate may be scheduled to work more than forty hours.
Education And Experience
- • An understanding of Microsoft Windows operating systems and desktop products is required.
- • Some Food and Beverage experience preferred.
Physical Requirements
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
• The position requires some repetitive motion for keyboarding while in a seated position.
• The position requires the ability to move throughout all areas of the hotel; the ability to move up to 50 pounds short distances without assistance; the ability to move items up to 200 pounds with reasonable accommodations.
