Everest is a global leader in risk management, rooted in a rich, 50+ year heritage of enabling businesses to survive and thrive, and economies to function and flourish. We are underwriters of risk, growth, progress and opportunity. We are a global team focused on disciplined capital allocation and long-term value creation for all stakeholders, who care deeply about our impact on communities and the wider world.

About The Role:

This is a temporary position with the potential to become permanent based on performance and business needs.

As an Underwriting Assistant at Everest, you’ll support the Underwriter while working as part of the Operations Underwriting Support team to ensure accurate risk management, record keeping, and reporting. This is a hybrid role (3 days in office / 2 days remote) based in our Madrid, Spain office supporting the French market.

Your Responsibilities:

  • You’ll assist in setting up this line of insurance by creating process maps and procedures that align with existing classes, and updating them as needed.
  • You’ll summarize slip terms and conditions, calculate premiums and exposures, and ensure complete and accurate entry of submissions, quotes, risks, endorsements, and transactions into Everest’s Underwriting Systems. You’ll perform data checks to ensure underwriting data is entered correctly.
  • You’ll store all risk information and correspondence in the document repository to maintain a complete and accurate audit trail of all substantive business activity.
  • You’ll ensure all relevant underwriting information is included for peer review, risk entry, and data checking within the designated timeframe. You’ll index and update electronically submitted underwriting information as appropriate.
  • You’ll maintain tools containing key underwriting information to support compliance checks for sanctions, fraud, and financial crime—both pre-bind and post-bind.
  • You’ll assist underwriters during the underwriting process, and help produce management information, support business development, and contribute to marketing efforts.
  • You’ll provide administrative support to underwriters and the Operations team in areas such as credit control, data quality, and training.
  • You’ll take on any other ad hoc tasks as defined and agreed with the Operations Manager.
  • You’ll perform all functions in accordance with Everest’s target operating model, policies, and procedure manuals, as updated from time to time.

Your Qualifications:

  • You speak and write fluently in English and French.
  • You have experience in the insurance industry (preferred).
  • You’re logical, analytical, and resourceful.
  • You have excellent attention to detail.
  • You’re confident and act with urgency.
  • You can review complex information and retain knowledge.
  • You have strong organizational and communication skills.
  • You follow through on tasks and projects.
  • You’re able to work independently but also thrive as part of a team.

Temporary employees will also have access to our training and professional development resources during the assignment.

What if I don’t meet every requirement? At Everest we are dedicated to building an inclusive and authentic workplace. So, if you are excited about this role but your past experience doesn’t align perfectly with every element in the job description, we still encourage you to apply. You may be just the right candidate for this or other roles. Please let us know if you need any accommodations throughout the application or interview process.
