Job Purpose
The Repair & Maintenance (R&M) Technician plays a critical role in Weatherford's operational excellence by performing hands-on maintenance, repair, and refurbishment of specialized oilfield equipment and tools. This position ensures all field tools meet rigorous quality and safety standards before deployment to client sites. Working within a dynamic workshop environment, the R&M Technician follows detailed technical procedures throughout the entire maintenance lifecycle—from receiving and inspection to disassembly, repair, testing, and preparation for field deployment.
As technicians advance in seniority, they take on leadership responsibilities, mentoring junior staff and overseeing complex maintenance operations while ensuring adherence to Weatherford's industry-leading quality and safety protocols.
Key Responsibilities Safety & Compliance
- Champion Weatherford's core values of Quality, Health & Safety, Security, and Environmental protection in all activities
- Strictly adhere to Weatherford's "Rules to Live By" and all HSE policies
- Actively participate in daily safety meetings, toolbox talks, and Job Hazard Analysis (JHA)
- Promptly report safety concerns through appropriate channels
- Maintain compliance with all relevant regulations, standards, and industry best practices
Technical Operations
- Perform comprehensive equipment maintenance including disassembly, cleaning, pressure testing, inspection, painting, and reassembly
- Utilize precision measuring instruments and specialized testing equipment to verify dimensional requirements and equipment functionality
- Operate lifting equipment, forklifts, and cranes to safely transport tools and equipment (certification required)
- Troubleshoot complex equipment issues and implement effective solutions
- Maintain detailed documentation throughout the maintenance process
- Accurately log labor time in the Work Order (WO) tracking system
Quality Management
- Ensure all maintenance activities meet or exceed Weatherford's rigorous quality standards
- Complete all required documentation, including AIRTs, PFTs, forms, checklists, and work orders
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, including LEAN programs
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
Leadership (Senior Positions)
- Lead maintenance teams in complex repair operations
- Develop and optimize work schedules to maximize efficiency
- Conduct quality inspections to ensure compliance with standard operating procedures
- Perform root cause analysis on equipment failures and implement corrective actions
- Mentor junior technicians and provide technical guidance
- Manage parts inventory and procurement according to company guidelines
Communication & Professional Development
- Maintain effective communication with all stakeholders, both internal and external
- Actively pursue professional development opportunities
- Engage regularly with management to discuss performance and career advancement
- Demonstrate leadership and ethical behavior in all interactions
Qualifications Experience & Education
- 4-6+ years of experience in the Oil & Gas industry
- High School Diploma or equivalent technical certification
- Specialized training in oilfield equipment maintenance (preferred)
- Valid certifications for operating lifting equipment, forklifts, and cranes
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical manuals and engineering drawings
- Experience with precision measurement tools and diagnostic equipment
- Knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, and electrical systems
- Understanding of NDT, NDE, and ATEX principles
- Safe handling procedures for hazardous materials, radioactive elements, and explosives
- Basic computer skills for documentation and inventory management

Working Conditions

- May require domestic and international travel (up to 10%)
- Shift work may be required based on operational needs
