Reporting to the Corporate Health, Safety, & Environment (HSE) Director, the Corporate HSE Manager will action the strategic direction of the development, management, and constant improvement of the Corporate HS&E program and policies, and safety management system, to prevent loss and harm and to enhance overall performance of HS&E requirements among all divisions and sites across Cavendish, Cavendish Agri, and Island Gas.
The Corporate HSE Manager will work closely with all HSE Divisional/Site Leads or Managers, and Operations Leads to ensure the corporate standards and directions are embedded in divisional safety strategies.
- Responsible for the development and implementation of the Cavendish Corporate Safety management system across all of Cavendish and Island Gas.
- Responsible for the development and implementation of the Cavendish Corporate Safety program and associated policies for all Cavendish divisions and Island Gas with the long-term goal of creating standardization across the businesses.
- Primary responsibility for the effective implementation, actions, and ongoing maturity of the internal audit processes such as Enhesa and Key Elements of Safety.
- Manage the effective utilization of Intelex and other HSE technologies across Cavendish and leverage data analytics to make recommendations to the Corporate Director HSE on safety strategy to reduce risk.
- Identify, prioritize, and drive improvement opportunities.
- Ensure regulatory compliance to all relevant safety and health regulations across Cavendish and Island Gas.
- Manage the implementation of IGM/JDI Corporate safety standards across all of Cavendish and Island Gas.
- Perform site visits to ensure safety and health is a priority at all sites and being driven by site management.
- Lead and develop direct and indirect reports.
- This role requires up to 30% travel annually to support health, safety, and environmental initiatives across multiple facilities and operational sites in Canada and the United States.
- 5-10 years of experience in safety and or leadership role in manufacturing, food processing or agriculture.
- Preferably a certified safety professional holding any one of the following designations: CRST, CRSP, CSP, NEBOSH, or equivalent.
- Post Secondary Education or HSE Diploma.
- PMP certification would be an asset.
- Strategic thinker, strong interpersonal, communication, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
