Position Overview

This position will be based in Tokyo.

The Regional Oncology Liaison (“the ROL”) at Exact Sciences Kabushiki Kaisha will be responsible for establishing and growing a molecular diagnostic business franchise in a defined territory within Japan initially based around the Oncotype DX Breast Recurrence Score ProgramÔ assay which supports adjuvant and neoadjuvant medical treatment decision-making for early stage breast cancer patients (“ODX-IBC-P”).  ODX-IBC-P will be the first Oncotype DX product in the world to be approved and marketed as a medical device, and will present a host of significant challenges to the Exact Sciences organization worldwide, and to the Exact Sciences business in Japan which will undergo a complete transformation as it gears up to launch this assay / software service product.

The ROL will need to be a person who combines experience in oncology sales, ability to negotiate with hospital administrators, the skills to conduct accurate, detailed clinical education, versatility, organizational flexibility and an aptitude for adapting to evolving circumstances.  The ROL should be someone who will also adhere steadfastly to the goal of providing the benefits of the Oncotype DX breast assay to cancer patients and to building a substantial, durable diagnostic business.  Launching the ODX-IBC-P product will require health care provider institutions to make infrastructure changes and establish systems and policies for physicians and other institution staff to interact with the Exact Sciences web portal for ordering assays and for report delivery.  This will require negotiation, support and training for health care provider institutions on practical / logistical issues in addition to clinical education.

After the initial introduction phase, the ROL’s role will transition to a more traditional clinical and education-focused set of activities. In the future, it is expected that the Company will introduce other leading edge molecular diagnostic products to the market and the ROL should be someone who is eager to take on these new challenges. The ROL must be aware of the ever-changing compliance environment and be able to apply prudent professional judgement to these aspects in carrying out the above activities.
