Summary
The Production Superintendent role oversees operations at an Air Separation Gas Plant that supplies high-purity gases to a semiconductor customer. This leadership position is responsible for managing a team of Production Technicians, ensuring safe and reliable plant performance, and maintaining full compliance with quality, environmental, and regulatory standards.
Key responsibilities include coordinating daily activities across the control room, field operations, and the customer use point building. The role drives operational excellence and supports long-term reliability of the plant. It requires a combination of hands-on technical expertise and strong leadership capabilities to guide and develop front-line production staff.
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Team Leadership & Oversight:
- Supervise, coach, and develop Production Technicians in control room operations, field rounds, and customer interface duties.
- Schedule and assign work to ensure adequate shift coverage and operational continuity.
- Foster a culture of safety, compliance, and accountability.
Operational Management:
- Ensure production goals are consistently met while maintaining efficiency, reliability, and gas purity standards.
- Review daily plant performance, operating trends, and equipment status to optimize operation.
- Lead troubleshooting efforts for plant upsets, equipment failures, and customer supply issues.
Customer & Technical Interface:
- Oversee gas supply performance at the Customer Use Point building and ensure adherence to strict semiconductor-grade requirements.
- Serve as a liaison between plant operations, engineering, and customer technical teams.
- Support audits, quality reviews, and incident investigations with customer representatives.
Compliance & Reliability:
- Ensure strict adherence to safety standards, environmental permits, and internal company policies.
- Maintain accurate operating and compliance records (QA, PSI, variance reports, maintenance logs).
- Collaborate with maintenance, reliability, and engineering teams to plan outages, inspections, and projects.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Operations, or related technical discipline preferred; or 7+ years of industrial plant operations experience with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
Technical Skills:
- Strong knowledge of air separation processes, control room systems (DCS/PLC), and field operations.
- Experience with quality systems, safety programs, and regulatory compliance.
- Demonstrated ability to lead troubleshooting and problem-solving activities.
- Proven ability to supervise, mentor, and develop a multi-skilled workforce.
- Strong communication skills to coordinate with internal teams, contractors, and customers.
- Ability to work in a 24/7 production environment with occasional off-hours support as required.
- Industrial facility environment with potential exposure to high noise and cryogenic gases.
- Requires use of PPE and strict compliance with safety standards.

- Availability for on-call duty, overtime, and emergency response when required.
