Job Description Summary
Generator Product Service Engineer has functional responsibility for assigned engineering workstream. This position is primarily responsible for driving and delivering issue resolution for GE Gas Power customers via Engineering requests, Root Cause Analysis and customer technical communications. The candidate should have sound knowledge on Combined Cycle Gas plant, Generator Mechanical Accessories and Fluid systems. The individual is responsible for upholding GE's product integrity by proactively identifying customer issues, investigating technical anomalies, providing technical assessments at both component and systems levels, and communicating GE technical solutions to customers and responsible for team operational rigor to deliver on team priorities.Job Description
Roles And Responsibilities
- Adhere to Standard work deliverables (RCA,ER,RFR, Customer Technical communication) aligned with EMEA Pole and global engineering priorities.
- Experience on Generator Mechanical components, incompressible medium (Seal oil, Water) and Compressible medium (Air, Co2,H2, N2) and show flexibility to enhance capability to support Generator Stator and Rotor components.
- Execute ER and resolve in depth, technical issues in Generator technology and Electrical space for customers timely and efficiently
- Support root cause investigations for issues with significant fleet impact following 8D process
- Support and coordinate with interfacing organizations such as manufacturing, sourcing, services operations, quality and design engineering to fulfill customer needs.
- Serve as a thought leader in industry, at conferences, user groups, and customer events based on need.
- Mentor and develop Generator product service engineers and provide related training in area of the expertise.
- Travel to customer locations based on need to:
- Author knowledge articles as well as customer communications, including TILs (Technical Information Letter), PSSB (Product Service Safety Bulletin), PSIB (Product Service Information Bulletin), and Safety communications
- Support customer technical review meetings and present recommendations to champion GE's commitment to technical solutions
- Support unplanned/forced outages to meet availability goals
- Provide commercial teams with technical support for sales and services proposal activities.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited university or college or relevant experience
- Experience of customer facing role related to combined cycle power plant
- Occasional weekend availability may be required in case of emergency breakdowns
- Impactful interpersonal & networking skills, proven ability to influence
- Willing to work in a collaborative agile environment in a global matrix organization
- Comfortable dealing with ambiguity, uncertainty with willingness to be challenged and shows flexibility
- Experience and willingness to travel to customer sites to support commissioning or issue resolutions, when such need arises
