Senior Python Engineer

I. Job Summary

Under minimal supervision, this position is responsible for designing, developing, coding, testing, and debugging new software and producing significant enhancements to existing software. Conducts complex business process analysis, needs assessments, and participates in design sessions with Architects in order to align information technology solutions with business initiatives. Undertakes complex projects requiring additional specialized technical knowledge in software design and testing.

II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
 

• Undertakes the complex applications development projects involving multiple disciplines and technologies
• Develops enterprise-level information technology solutions by analyzing, coding, testing, and implementing new software and by modifying/enhancing existing software applications.
• Leads design/coding sessions, develops solutions, and implements solutions as part of a team. Performs complex analyses of system requirements and of existing business processes and information systems.
• Articulates design and resolves technical/design conflicts as they occur.
• Delivers solution on time, ensuring quality and completeness of the deliverables
• Coordinates with business analysts and users to determine requirements, effort estimation.
• Reviews systems under development and related documentation.
• Resolves customers’ issues and responds to suggestions for improvements and enhancements. Participates in the development of software.
• Contributes in advanced systems planning, scheduling and implementation.
• Mentors and fosters growth of peers and team members.
• May work on-call shifts on a rotation basis.

III. Qualifications 

A. Required Qualifications 
 

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, MIS, or similar area of study, or in lieu of degree, High School Diploma or GED (accredited) and 4 years of relevant experience.
• 5 years of previous experience (in addition to education requirement)

B. Preferred Qualifications

• 8+ years of expereince in software engineering 

C. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Technically advanced knowledge or in-depth skills in one or more of the following is preferred:

• Proficiency in Python
• Cloud Technologies: AWS Services such as Lambda, IAM, S3, EFS, SQS, SNS, API Gateway, CLI,  Kinesis, Glue,  Elasticache, CloudWatch, CloudFormation
• Experience working with Databases like Oracle, SQL, Server, PostgreSQLand NoSQL databases such as Cassandra and Dynamo DB
• Experience with Big Data Technologies like Hadoop, Spark, EMR,
• Experience working on complex cloud-based software projects, web application development, security and open-source technologies.
• Full Stack Development is preferred including Front end technologies such as Front End – Angular, JavaScript, HTML5
• Experience AI / ML / Data Science is preferred
• Excellent Communication skills and ability to understand Functional / domain Requirements and business vision
• Passionate about new technologies and willing to explore new technologies, Proof of concepts
• Knowledge of Service Oriented, Microservices, and Event-driven design patterns
• Systems development, implementation, upgrades and analyses QA testing, catalyst or unified business modeling, system design and analysis.
• Knowledge of enterprise coding standards.
• Hands on experience in writing highly complex code.
• Ability to perform code reviews.
• Knowledge of software methodologies and agile development methodologies.
