As a Senior Software Engineer, you will design, engineer and run our capabilities for the Network Automation and Orchestration Tools stack for network and perimeter products and platforms that enable highly distributed global business for site, fleet, asset and IoT connectivity, required to deliver against our strategy. A globally focused shipping and transportation organisation is continuing to drive an ambitious and complex change and transformational programme to deliver a service of excellence for its customers and clients worldwide.  The Global CTIO has a mandate from the Maersk board to lead the Technology transformation of Maersk which will enable the Maersk business strategy to become the global integrator of container logistics through digitising the Maersk business processes and customer engagement.

The Network OSS Engineering function is essential to our transformation, it is a central team within Network Architecture & Engineering, responsible for the delivery of product roadmaps, technical vision and quality across Fulfilment and Assurance that underpin our network and perimeter capabilities and products.

Reporting to the Senior OSS Engineering  Manager you will serve as a Senior Software Engineer, ensuring that our systems and tools for the network OSS realise business value. Your role is responsible for technical design and delivery of solutions across the network OSS applications landscape from Planning to analytics driven AIOps. All built to industry leading standards and running seamlessly across various cloud and on-prem platforms, allowing frictionless and seamless operations of our network and perimeter platforms.

Scope

The Network OSS team at Maersk is responsible for enabling, automating, and enhancing the management of data networks across Core, Edge, and Cloud locations (offices, warehouses, terminals, vessels, data centres, cloud environments, etc). Our scope includes orchestration, observability, assurance, and the development of network management platforms and tools to ensure end-to-end service reliability and operational efficiency.

Key areas include but are not limited to:

• Automation & Orchestration: Design and implementation of workflows and systems to automate provisioning, configuration, monitoring, and assurance of network services.
• Tooling & Platform Development: Building scalable internal tools for network inventory, monitoring, telemetry collection, event correlation, and intent-based management.
• Assurance & Monitoring: End-to-end visibility and health monitoring of WAN, LAN, and wireless networks with integrated alerting and analytics capabilities.
• Inventory Management: Development and maintenance of a real-time, unified network inventory to support lifecycle and incident management.
• Integration & Observability: Ingesting, processing, and enriching telemetry, syslogs, traps, and alarms from:
• Wireless Transport: Satellite | 4G/LTE | 5G
• IoT Networking: Industrial Wi-Fi
• WAN: Internet | IP/MPLS | Next-Gen/SD WAN
• LAN: DC Networking | SDN | Fixed & Wireless
• Perimeter: Load balancers | NG Firewalls | Security Service Edge

Specific Job Requirements

Product mindset and passion for building resilient, scalable network automation solutions for internal stakeholders and global infrastructure teams.

The role holder shall demonstrate deep expertise in Python and related software engineering practices, with hands-on experience in building and integrating tools in the OSS ecosystem to support network fulfilment, assurance, and observability across Core, Edge, and Cloud environments.

They Will Possess:

• Proven ability to design and develop APIs using RESTful principles and ensure secure, reliable integrations with internal platforms.
• Advanced understanding of DevOps practices, CI/CD automation using GitHub workflows, Jenkins, and containerization with Docker.
• Experience architecting microservices-based systems with strong focus on modularity, scalability, and performance.
• In-depth knowledge of relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and ORM frameworks like SQLAlchemy or Django ORM.
• Expertise in FastAPI, Flask, or Django for backend service development.
• Strong test-driven development (TDD) discipline with frameworks like PyTest and focus on code quality, maintainability, and continuous improvement.

In This Role, You Will:

• Collaborate closely with Product Owners, Network SMEs, and Analysts to gather, analyze, and translate requirements into scalable software solutions.
• Own the end-to-end development of network tooling services used across telemetry, topology, configuration management, and orchestration.
• Drive architectural decisions and mentor junior engineers in software engineering best practices.
• Support program delivery with estimation, planning, and risk assessment.
• Design, implement, and publish high-performance APIs to serve Maersk’s network operations ecosystem in a consistent and secure manner.
• Participate in capacity planning, performance optimization, and system reliability initiatives.
• Adopt a product and platform engineering mindset with focus on user experience, system integration, and long-term sustainability.

To be considered for this opportunity the candidate needs to have following technical qualifications:

• Advanced Proficiency in Python: Demonstrated mastery of Python syntax, data structures, and a deep understanding of object-oriented programming principles.
• Strategic Problem-Solving Abilities: Exceptional logical and analytical skills, with a proven track record of tackling complex programming challenges.
• Algorithm Design and Optimization Expertise: Extensive experience in the design, analysis, and optimization of algorithms. The candidate should have a knack for enhancing performance and efficiency in software solutions.
• Web Framework Development: Must have hands-on experience with the FastAPI/Flask/Django Framework, demonstrating the ability to lead projects, mentor developers, and drive the delivery of high-quality web applications.
• Database Management and Design: In-depth experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or SQLite.
• ORM Tools Mastery: Familiarity with Object Relational Mapping tools like SQLAlchemy or Django ORM. 
• Unit Testing and Quality Assurance: Extensive experience in writing and maintaining unit tests using frameworks like PyTest or unittest. 
• API Development Leadership: Proficient in designing and developing APIs with a thorough understanding of RESTful principles and authentication mechanisms. Capable of leading API strategy, development, and integration.
• Docker and Microservices Architecture: Experience with containerization using Docker and designing microservices architecture. The ability to architect, deploy, and manage scalable and resilient systems.
• CI/CD and GitHub Workflow Proficiency: Skilled in Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment practices and familiar with GitHub workflows. Demonstrated experience in automating build, test, and deployment pipelines to streamline development processes.

Experience working in the Network Automation space is an added advantage.
