Summary of Essential Functions

  • Responsible and accountable for the operations management and performance of the assigned cardiology practice(s). Coordinates clinical and administrative support for a range of services including general cardiology, cardiac diagnostics, and procedural scheduling.
  • Manages all non-provider staff, including but not limited to scheduling, performance evaluation, and regular team meetings. Works closely with cardiology providers to ensure streamlined workflows and optimal use of clinical resources.
  • Manages the practice revenue cycle through coordination and communication with practice front office staff and the business office.

 Ensures a productive, patient-centric environment that promotes excellence in customer service, patient care, and coordination with hospital-based cardiac services.

Educational Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required. 

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.

Must be able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. 

Bachelor’s degree in nursing, Healthcare Administration, or Business Administration preferred.

Licenses And Certifications

Must be licensed with the Board of Nursing for the State of Texas. 

Cpr Certification.

Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities/Experience

  • Applicants should possess significant experience in a clinical role, with cardiology experience strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with common cardiology procedures and diagnostics, such as stress testing, EKG, echocardiography, Holter monitoring, and cardiac clearance workflows
  • One or more years’ experience in ER, Urgent Care, or Critical Care setting preferred.
  • Experience in venipuncture and lab specimen collection preferred.
  • Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Strong knowledge of healthcare regulations, compliance, and billing practices.
  • Ability to analyze financial data as well as incorporate results of that analysis into practice operations. 

Previous experience in healthcare management or administration preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Primarily works the day shift tour of duty; additional hours may be asked to work other hours as needed, including weekends and early mornings/evenings.
  • May be expected to lift over twenty-five (25) pounds.
  • Ability to distinguish between numbers and symbols.
  • Hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity with substantial movement of wrist and/or fingers.
  • Walking and climbing to accomplish tasks.
  • Corrected vision and hearing to normal or near normal range.
  • Extended periods of sitting and/or walking depending on specific duties.

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Responsible for daily management of assigned cardiology clinic site(s)
  • Provides management, guidance, and training to staff in daily practice operations.  Performs duties of subordinate staff when necessary to maintain practice operations, as appropriate with the skills and credentials of the practice manager. 
  • Motivates staff and organizes the day-to-day activity of site/s. Fosters a positive and collaborative work environment. Ensures scheduling of staff to promote provider productivity as well as to promote high clinical quality, high service quality, operational and financial viability, and ensure appropriate patient access to clinical services.
  • Purchases supplies and ensures proper value for funds expended.  Evaluates invoices for accuracy and codes and submits invoices to accounts payable on a timely basis.  If this responsibility is delegated, accuracy and expense management are still the accountability of the practice manager.
  • Ensures accuracy of payroll submission.  Ensures overtime and/or temporary personnel are within budget.  Assists staff with payroll issues.
  • Reviews monthly financial performance. Identifies opportunities for improvement and works with practice operations councils to develop site-specific action plans to implement necessary changes.   Ensures compliance with fiscal standards with a focus on volume, payer mix, fees, customer service initiatives, productivity, coding and documentation, non-provider labor, building occupancy expenses, and clinical supply costs.
  • Collaborates with the practice operations council(s), Director, and VP in annual budget development and is accountable for practice adherence to budget and/or other fiscal goals.
  • Ensures staff is trained, capable, and held accountable to provide high-quality care in a caring manner, as well as for all other tasks within practice site(s). 
  • Ensures compliance with regulatory guidelines, accreditation requirements, and system policies/procedures for all activities within the practice(s). 
  • Stay updated on industry trends and integrate new technologies and services when necessary.
  • Provides ongoing performance feedback and appraisal of all provider and non-provider staff, with the assistance and input of the Medical Director, VP, Director, and practice operations council members. Conducts annual evaluation process for staff and compiles information for the human resource department in a timely manner.  Ensures that all support staff members maintain licensure and certifications as required, as well as coordinating yearly competency evaluation.
  • Work closely with providers to optimize clinical workflows.
  • Tracks and monitors scheduling to support productivity benchmarks and timely access to cardiology services
  • Supports registry reporting and quality metrics as applicable 
  • Collaborate with other departments and external stakeholders to enhance overall clinic performance.
  • Performs all other tasks/responsibilities as necessary.
