Position Description:
Creates data architecture and performs data modeling for multiple key initiatives in the Fidelity Brokerage Technology space. Collaborates with other leaders within an Agile structure to establish focus area standards. Influences strategic decisions and builds solutions to help scale the business. Drives data strategy by building and improving data integration, modeling, and database design. Uses primarily transactional and operational systems, stretching into analytical systems as needed. Works closely with the business and technical teams and creates or assists in the creation of scalable, flexible, and well documented data architecture to enable database designs that will enhance the FBT modernization. Drives team conformance to the FBT data strategy and Enterprise guidelines.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Drives technical and solutions architecture within Fidelity Brokerage Technology.
- Architects and designs end-to-end data solutions and software applications.
- Works closely with business partners and technology teams to understand business objectives and helps to define the appropriate software architecture direction for them.
- Architects, designs, and builds highly scalable analytical and reports applications.
- Evaluates, prototypes, and recommends emerging data technologies and platforms.
- Designs, develops, and modifies software systems, uses scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure outcomes and consequences of design.
- Confers with systems analysts and software engineers/developers to design systems and to obtain information on project limitations and capabilities, performance requirements and interfaces.
- Develops and oversees software system tests and validation procedures, programs, and documentation.
Education And Experience:
Bachelor’s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and five (5) years of experience as a Principal Architect (or closely related occupation) architecting, solutioning, designing, and building scalable and resilient software solutions aligned to Enterprise and Business Unit guidelines.
Or, alternatively, Master’s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and three (3) years of experience as a Principal Architect (or closely related occupation) architecting, solutioning, designing, and building scalable and resilient software solutions aligned to Enterprise and Business Unit guidelines.
Skills And Knowledge:
Candidate Must Also Possess:
- Demonstrated Expertise (“DE”) designing Relational databases (Oracle and PostgreSQL), NoSQL databases (DynamoDB or Elastic search), Distributed databases (CockroachDB) and Graph databases (Neo4J) solutions for scalable and resilient modernized brokerage cloud applications.
- DE using EMR, SnapLogic, and AWS Batch to architect, design, and build highly scalable and complex transactional, analytical, and reporting applications.
- DE developing enterprise applications and data solutions in the cloud – Azure and AWS; evaluating, prototyping, and recommending emerging data technologies and platforms; and formulating data strategy and conceptual architecture, and working with development teams to execute the strategy.
- DE performing dimensional modeling and ETL on-prem and in the cloud; using data processing concepts -- third normal form (3NF), Change Data Capture, and Eventing -- and Streaming technologies, to convert legacy data to cloud optimized data formats.
