Position Summary

The Digital Literacy Coordinator will teach Digital Literacy classes, in Spanish, to adult immigrants. In addition, they will work closely with the Adult Education Senior Manager to support the recruitment, enrollment, and case management of students in the Digital Literacy classes. This position will focus on outreach, client navigation, administrative support, logistics, and high-quality instruction, ensuring that classes run smoothly and students receive the guidance and resources they need. The position may also support with other adult education offerings as needed. The role is vital for maintaining strong client engagement and collaboration with internal and external partners. This is a part-time, non-exempt position requiring on-site work with some hybrid opportunities. Candidates must live in the State of California. 

Essential Functions

Student Recruitment and Enrollment 

  • Assist with outreach to recruit students for Digital Literacy classes and other programs. 
  • Participate in community events to raise awareness about Canal Alliance classes and other services and opportunities. 
  • Work with IT team to set up data structures and processes for enrollment. 
  • Field inquiries from students, provide information and support, and enroll students in classes. 

 Program Coordination and Administrative Support  

  • Assist the Adult Education Senior Manager in coordinating classes, including scheduling and communication with partners. 
  • Maintain up-to-date schedules for classes and other student services. 
  • Prepare, organize, maintain, and distribute Chromebooks. 
  • In Salesforce, create classes and reports, enroll students, and maintain accurate records of enrollment, attendance, and case notes. 
  • Create documents, order supplies, and perform other administrative duties as required.  

Instruction

  • Teach basic Digital Literacy classes, in Spanish, to adult immigrants (training in how to teach the classes will be provided; curriculum will be provided). 
  • Practice cultural responsiveness and cultural humility in all interactions with students.  
  • Create an inclusive, welcoming and low-stress classroom environment. 
  • Be responsive to student needs and ensure all students are engaged and progressing. 

 Case Management and Student Support  

  • Communicate with students via phone and text, primarily in Spanish, to provide class reminders, re-schedule classes as necessary, and follow-up regarding absences. 
  • Assist students with tech issues. 
  • Provide navigation and case-management services to students, including referrals to other Canal Alliance programs and services. 
  • Use a client-centered approach to help students stay engaged in their educational journey by tracking attendance, addressing barriers to participation, and offering guidance. 

 Collaboration and Partnership Support  

  • Work closely with other Canal Alliance teams and external partners, supporting joint efforts to enhance client success. 
  • Assist with volunteer management, including scheduling and communicating with classroom aides.  

 Data Management and Reporting  

  • Track and report student outcomes by collecting and inputting data into the Salesforce system. 
  • Assist in preparing reports for internal use and for grant-related purposes. 

Other Duties as Assigned

  •  Support the Adult Education Senior Manager with additional administrative and programmatic duties as needed.  

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in client-facing roles, preferably in education, case management, or community services. 
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree or equivalent related experience in education, social services, or a similar field. 
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English (REOUIRED). 
  • Experience serving the Latino immigrant community and providing services in Spanish (preferred). 
  • Proficient in Chrome OS, Microsoft Word, Excel, Google Suite, and Salesforce or other CRM systems (preferred). 
  • Knowledge of adult education (preferred). 
  • Ability to establish positive relationships with clients, staff, and community partners and practice cultural responsiveness. 
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills. 
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while managing multiple tasks effectively. 

Compensation And Benefits

This is a part-time (20+ hours a week), non-exempt position with an hourly rate of $35 - $37 (DOE). Benefits include:

Location And Hours

This position is on-site at Canal Alliance headquarters in San Rafael and may also require some work at partner sites elsewhere in Marin as some classes take place offsite. Remote work is possible up to one day per week, as job responsibilities allow.  

Canal Alliance observes a four-day work week; we are open Monday through Thursday, closed on Fridays. The schedule is variable and will be mutually agreed upon. Candidates must be available to work evenings and weekends as that is when classes take place.
