Join our team! Galloway Ridge is an upscale continuing care retirement community located between Chapel Hill and Pittsboro in Chatham County, NC. Under the direction of the Director of Facilities Services, the Manager of Security Operations is responsible for planning, implementing, and overseeing all activities within the areas of protection services, records administration, team leadership, and facility support. This position plays a critical role in establishing and maintaining the community's security and safety culture. 

The Manager services as the primary point of contact for all security operations and must be available to respond to emergency situations 24/7 (Monday through Sunday) when necessary. This position requires leadership in both routine security management and crisis response to ensure the ongoing safety and security of the community. 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

Protection Services:

  • Manages, coordinates, and performs security operations ensuring 24/7 coverage, filling in open shifts as needed. 
  • Patrols premises to ensure facility security, detecting and preventing intrusions. 
  • Conducts on and off hours activities to ensure protocols are followed and security incidents are investigated. 
  • Communicates with law enforcement, fire department, and other local authorities on security or emergency matters. 
  • Utilizes security resources including surveillance and monitoring to minimize property loss and incidents. 
  • Responds to emergencies and coordinates with emergency services as needed. 

Records Administration:

  • Maintains comprehensive security records, policies, procedures, and reports on trends, anomalies, and concerns. 
  • Establishes procedures for document handling, security inspections, and data protection. 
  • Creates, modifies, and distributes security manuals and implements security awareness protocols. 
  • Monitors security systems and manages facility communications during non-business hours. 
  • Manages supply orders, material inventory, and maintains stock/storage organization and cleanliness. 

Team Leadership:

  • Performs personnel management duties including hiring, implementing discipline, and enforcing policies 
  • Completes performance evaluations, approves PTO requests, tracks attendance, and coordinates department recognition events 
  • Ensures staff are equipped with required PPE/uniforms and properly trained for specific job functions 
  • Conducts regular training and staff meetings to maintain consistent service quality 
  • Coordinates with all departments to provide cross-functional support, particularly after hours. 

Facility Support:

  • Implements and coordinates disaster preparedness protocols and drills 
  • Identifies and addresses potential safety hazards and maintenance issues 
  • Monitors and adjusts building systems as needed 
  • Manages security vendor and supplier activities 
  • Manages access entry, including confronting and processing unauthorized individuals 

 All other duties assigned include, but not limited to, enhancing the Resident Experience.  

Requirements

  •  High School Diploma or GED preferred 
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Coursework in security and crisis management preferred  
  • 3-5 years of hands-on supervisory experience in security management with demonstrated expertise in protection services, staff leadership, and facility/customer support preferred. 
  • Strong technical knowledge of security systems including surveillance cameras, access entry systems, monitoring equipment, and emergency response protocols. 
  • Proven experience developing and implementing security programs, emergency preparedness plans, and crisis management procedures. 
  • Experience managing documentation systems, record-keeping processes, and inventory management. 
  • Demonstrated ability to recruit, train, schedule, and supervise security personnel, including performance management and team development. 
  • Experience preparing comprehensive security reports, policies, and procedures. 
  • Ability to make sound decisions under pressure and coordinate emergency responses when necessary. 
  • Willingness to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and on-call rotations to respond to security incidents. 
  • Working knowledge of relevant security regulations and compliance requirements. 
  • Experience working in residential facilities, senior living communities, or similar environments preferred. 
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to interface effectively with residents, staff, emergency services, and outside vendors. 
  • Professional demeanor and pleasant personality to meet with residents and other professionals. 
  • Must be willing and eager to work with and provide assistance to the residents of the facility. 
  • Must have a genuine interest in geriatric care and believe in and uphold the philosophy of the facility.
