Comcast NBCUniversal has announced its intent to create a new publicly traded company ('Versant') comprised of most of NBCUniversal's cable television networks, including USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, SYFY and Golf Channel along with complementary digital assets Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, GolfPass, and SportsEngine. The well-capitalized company will have significant scale as a pure-play set of assets anchored by leading news, sports and entertainment content. The spin-off is expected to be completed during 2025.

Overview
CNBC International is seeking a sharp and ambitious Tech Reporter to cover the fast-moving world of technology across Europe and the Middle East. Based in London, this reporter will write CNBC International’s flagship tech newsletter, Beyond the Valley, while delivering scoops, exclusives, and authoritative reporting on the companies, people, and policies shaping the region’s technology landscape.
Key Responsibilities
- Write and curate CNBC International’s Beyond the Valley newsletter, providing sharp insights and analysis on the most important developments in global and regional tech.
- Report on major themes including AI, big tech, startups, fintech, venture capital, and regulation across Europe and the Middle East.
- Cultivate and maintain strong sources among founders, executives, investors, and policymakers with a view to deliver scoops, original, agenda-setting journalism.
- Stay on top of fast-moving developments, ensuring CNBC is first and best with accurate, impactful coverage.
- Contribute smart explainers, interviews, and features that bring clarity to complex tech stories and drive subscriber value.
- Work with TV and social teams to amplify tech coverage across platforms, strengthening CNBC’s multi-platform strategy.
- Use analytics and audience insights to shape coverage that resonates with CNBC’s global audience and supports subscription growth.
Qualifications
Skills And Experience And Requirements
- 3–5 years of experience reporting on business or technology, ideally with a focus on Europe and the Middle East.
- Proven ability to break news and develop sources within the tech sector.
- Excellent writing skills, with the ability to make complex technology and business issues accessible and engaging.
- Familiarity with EMEA’s tech ecosystem, including major companies, startups, and regulators.
- Strong understanding of how the big players such as Meta, OpenAI etc. in the tech space and their growing influence on the world.
- Strong news judgment, with an eye for stories that resonate with global business and investor audiences.
- Understanding of digital publishing, newsletters, and social media best practices.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced newsroom and work collaboratively across teams and time zones.
