Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity
We are seeking an Operations Coordinator to play a key role in delivering a safe, seamless, and positive experience for everyone who engages with our Sport and Recreation facilities, at our new state-of-the-art Recreation Centre, Hiwa. In this role, you’ll focus on the systems and processes that support the customer journey, from managing bookings processes and accounts receivable to keeping facility and asset management plans on track. You’ll make sure our technology and booking platforms are reliable and easy to use, provide accurate and timely communications, and work closely with contractors and suppliers to maintain high standards across our facilities. In this position, you’ll be instrumental through your strong administrative skills to contribute to the daily operations of our Sport & Recreation Centre, collaborating closely with the broader Sport and Recreation team.
This is a fixed term, 37.5 hours per week, on a full-time contract for 12 months. This is a Band E role within the University pay structure with a salary range for this role is $62,400 - $77,800 per annum depending on experience and qualifications.

Our Sport and Recreation team is passionate about delivering exceptional services and experiences to students, staff, and the wider community. You’ll be working alongside a collaborative and energetic group committed to promoting active wellbeing.
He kōrero mōu | About you
You will bring at least three years’ experience in administration or operations coordination, ideally within a recreation, fitness, or customer service environment. Highly organised and detail-focused, you’re confident managing processes, payments, and accounts receivable, while keeping systems and processes running smoothly in the background to support a seamless customer journey. You’ll have strong problem-solving skills, the ability to adapt quickly to new systems, and a proactive approach to service improvement.
Due to the nature of the role, the role will require for the successful candidate to complete Police Vetting clearance checks.
