Job Description
The Lead Sommelier is responsible for maintaining the outlet wine list, controlling cost, maintaining wine storage areas, liaise with wine administrator to keep accurate inventory, training outlet staff in proper wine service, communicating with guests in a clear and professional manner, and providing excellent guest service according to Wynn Las Vegas service standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensures all Wynn Las Vegas & Zero Bond core values and property and department standards are implemented and applied.
- Must have the ability to promote positive, fair, and ethical relations with all team members, with all Wynn contractors, and in all interactions within the Host and Surrounding Communities, as an ambassador of the Wynn brand.
- Works closely with the Administrative Wine Team on specific projects when appropriate.
- Works with safety as a priority and follows department and company safety standards.
- Maintains relevant knowledge of industry through continuing education and training.
- Consult with membership team on wine locker sales and partnership opportunities.
- Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of the wine list, including new additions and seasonal offerings.
- Provide personalized wine recommendations based on members preference and dining occasions
- Conduct private tastings, educational seminars and exclusive wine events for members.
- Assist wine locker members in building and managing their personal wine collections.
- Work in conjunction with the wine manager to maintain detailed records of each wine member's collection, including purchase, consumption and preferences.
- Follow wine service protocols set from by the company that follow the club's luxury standards.
- Attend all required training sessions and pre-shift briefings to stay informed of daily priorities, new offerings, and member notes.
- Performs any other job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Job Qualifications
- Candidates must be able to communicate, read and write in English fluently and in a professional manner.
- Requires a minimum of 3-5 years of work experience as a lead sommelier or manager in a luxury dining establishment.
- Requires advanced service knowledge and expertise of wines, including vintages, regions, and varietals.
- Sommelier Certification a plus. Cigar knowledge is a plus.
- Requires the ability to work efficiently and within a team environment.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain any licensing or active work cards required, at present or in the future, for this position at all times.
- Applicants must be 21 years of age or above.
