The Mechanical/Process Commissioning Engineer is responsible for leading and executing all aspects of commissioning for mechanical and process systems within a semiconductor or advanced manufacturing facility. This role ensures that systems are installed, tested, and verified in compliance with design intent, project specifications, and operational requirements. The engineer will serve as both a technical specialist and project leader on small to moderately sized commissioning projects, maintaining strong communication with clients, contractors, and internal teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform commissioning of mechanical and process systems, including:
  • Witness equipment start-up performed by vendors.
  • Execute functional acceptance tests and commissioning scripts.
  • Track, report, and close out commissioning issues throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Review design documents, project drawings, specifications, P&IDs, and shop drawings for commissioning readiness.
  • Evaluate commissioning-related RFIs and verify field compliance through detailed walkdowns.
  • Perform commissioning design and submittal reviews.
  • Develop commissioning plans, schedules, and procedures.
  • Prepare and execute detailed commissioning scripts in alignment with the sequence of operations.
  • Review contractor quality test reports for accuracy and completeness.
  • Monitor commissioning progress, update schedules, and report KPIs to management.
  • Serve as lead on small or moderately sized commissioning projects.
  • Provide commissioning communications and updates to clients and stakeholders.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with contractors and clients.
  • Support project management activities as needed.
  • Operate safely within a construction environment while performing commissioning tasks.
  • Ensure all commissioning activities comply with site safety protocols and standards.
  • Any other duties or responsibilities that may be assigned to you in your role. 
  • Exhaust fans and ductwork systems
  • Air handlers and ductwork systems
  • Lift stations (gravity and associated piping)
  • Waste collection systems and piping networks
  • Scrubbed abatement systems and associated controls

Skills Required:

  • 1+ years of experience in commissioning, QA/QC, or mechanical/process engineering in semiconductor, pharmaceutical, or advanced manufacturing environments.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical and process systems, including ductwork, piping, lift stations, and abatement systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents such as P&IDs, specifications, shop drawings, and sequence of operations.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and executing commissioning plans and functional tests.
  • Excellent communication, reporting, and contractor management skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities to track commissioning progress against schedules.
  • Commitment to working safely in active construction and commissioning environments.

Education / Licenses / Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or chemical engineering or related field preferred (or equivalent experience).
  • OSHA 10
  • NFPA
  • Proof of education, licenses, and certifications will be required where applicable.
