Job Description
Position Summary:
The Sr. Computer Vision and AI Engineer will shape the future of AI in orthopedic surgery. You’ll lead algorithm development for medical imaging and clinical decision support, helping surgeons with innovative tools to treat patients more effectively.
You’re fluent in Python, and likely another language, but what really sets you apart is your creative problem-solving, curiosity, and desire to bring innovations from ideas to the OR.
Operating in a fast-paced, high-innovation environment, the position plays a critical role in shaping Treace’s product direction and expanding its impact on surgical care.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Design and develop advanced Computer Vision and AI algorithms (X-ray & CT-based).
- Perform feasibility studies and rapid prototyping to validate clinical utility.
- Identify novel solutions and contribute to Treace’s growing patent portfolio.
- Collaborate across R&D, engineering, and clinical teams to meet regulatory and design requirements.
- Participate in user studies, surgeon interactions, and cadaver labs to ground your work in real surgical workflows.
- Operate in a fast-paced, high-innovation environment where your ideas will shape product direction.
- Solutions you work on include identifying anatomy, correlating 2D and 3D imaging information and surgical plans, simulations and visualization.
Qualifications
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s in Computer Science or related field (Master’s preferred)
- 5+ years of industry experience; 3+ years in Computer Vision or AI within a regulated industry (medical devices a strong plus)
- Solid understanding of modern AI/ML toolkits and image processing techniques
- Willingness to travel up to 10% for labs, surgeon training, and industry events
- Experience working directly with surgical teams or in clinical settings is a plus
