Purpose

The National Operations Director reports directly to the President and serves as a national integrator, ensuring operational initiatives are executed effectively across all regions. This role partners closely with Support Centre functions (Finance, IT, Supply Chain, HR) to translate policies, systems, and strategies into consistent national execution.

While Regional Operations Analysts report directly to their Regional Vice Presidents, they maintain a dotted-line alignment to the National Operations Director, who provides guidance, support, and accountability on execution. The role also serves as a feedback channel to the President and Support Center, ensuring field realities shape ongoing strategy.

Key Responsibilities

Execution Of National Initiatives

  • Drive the rollout of national projects and programs (ERP upgrades, digital tools, operational policies) into all regions.
  • Ensure consistency in adoption, training, and usage across branch networks.
  • Track execution progress and resolve barriers in collaboration with Regional Analysts.

Field-To-Corporate Feedback Loop

  • Collaborate with Support Center functions to ensure new policies, tools, and strategies are practical and effective.
  • Provide structured feedback from branches and regions to inform adjustments and refinements.
  • Represent the 'voice of operations' in national policy and systems discussions.
  • Proactively look for opportunities to drive improvements in operational excellence.

Performance Monitoring & Accountability

  • Consolidate execution data across regions to report progress on wage-to-GP ratios, inventory KPIs, and digitization goals.
  • Identify gaps in compliance or adoption and work with Regional Analysts/RVPs to correct them.
  • Maintain a regular cadence of reporting to the President on both progress and challenges.

Coaching & Support

  • Partner with Regional Analysts to strengthen their ability to execute initiatives and drive results.
  • Share best practices across regions to ensure rapid scaling of successful approaches.
  • Provide on-the-ground support during critical rollouts (system launches, branch transitions, policy changes).

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work directly with Finance, Supply Chain, IT, and HR at the Support Centre to align execution priorities.
  • Act as the connector between corporate functions and regional operations, ensuring both sides understand requirements and realities.
  • Support alignment between sales/operations initiatives and overall company strategy.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Operations, Supply Chain, or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in operational execution, process improvement, or systems adoption (wholesale/distribution preferred).
  • Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to influence, motivate, and hold teams accountable.
  • Strong proficiency in ERP systems and BI tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to work through influence in a matrix structure.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills; able to balance corporate expectations with field realities.
  • Strong financial and business acumen, with the ability to interpret P&L and drive profitability.

  • Constructive, actionable feedback delivered to Support Centre and President.increased operational efficiency and customer satisfaction (NPS > 65).
