Autonomous Vehicle Field Manager - Austin, TX / Pay Rate $45.00 - 60.00 per hour

The Autonomous Vehicle Field Manager will oversee defined aspects of the client's fleet operations in Austin, TX and Atlanta, GA. Key tasks will be to ensure the team is accurately completing warranty-type repair orders and collaborating with teammates. The role prefers someone with automotive knowledge and adherence to safety and quality standards.

The Autonomous Vehicle Field Manager will manage and direct defined aspects of the client’s fleet operations. You will lead and inspire a team of vehicle technicians tasked with maintaining and repairing a growing fleet of self-driving taxis. You will set and achieve operational objectives, while controlling costs and developing a high-performing team. Above all, you will be responsible for ensuring the team is completing warranty repairs according to our client’s service expectations, while working alongside other teammates in a positive, innovative work and growth environment.

Responsibilities:

• Establishing work priorities and tracking key performance indicators to measure the success of fleet maintenance operations, while implementing data-driven strategies to continually get better.
• Building, leading and developing a team of vehicle technicians, including hiring, mentoring, scheduling, and training, as well as offering promotion, discipline, and termination recommendations.
• Collaborating with client leadership to align on operational goals and strategies, and act as a key liaison between the client and AutoNation. This includes providing recommendations for improving the maintenance and administration of their fleet of self-driving taxis.
• Ensuring all work orders are closed accurately and in a timely manner while adhering to SOPs and all AutoNation and client company policies, procedures, and safety standards.
• Maintaining reporting systems required by AutoNation and the client and participating in or leading regular meetings to provide updates on performance.
• Establishing and maintaining a good working relationship with vocational and technical schools to enhance recruitment activities.
• Understanding and complying with federal, state, and local regulations that affect fleet maintenance and repair operations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA right-to-know act, EV safety, and so on.
• Operating all equipment in the Service Center in a safe and productive manner, following AutoNation’s Safety Standards for the use of personal protective equipment (e.g., safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection) while working on the production floor.

Qualifications:

• A minimum of 3 years in vehicle repair at an automotive service center or as a fleet operator.
• Must have a minimum of 5 years' experience with OEM warranty.
• 5+ years' Experience managing a team of 10 or more vehicle technicians, with varying levels of skill and training.
• Demonstrated ability to achieve daily, weekly, and monthly operational targets.
• Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while juggling competing priorities and tasks.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Comfortable using fleet or dealer management software such as Fleetio or CDK (or equivalent software)
