Role description:
Arcadis is looking for an MEP Project Manager to join our Project Management team in Lisbon, PT. The MEP Project Manager is responsible for leading the planning, coordination, and delivery of MEP systems within construction and fit-out projects. This role ensures that all MEP works are designed, procured, executed, and commissioned in line with project requirements, regulatory standards, budget, and schedule. The MEP Project Manager acts as the key interface between design teams, contractors, suppliers, and the client, ensuring technical excellence, compliance, and seamless integration with the overall project.

Role accountabilities:
As a Project Manager MEP, you will take on a pivotal role in leading and delivering complex, high-tech construction projects while ensuring seamless integration of MEP systems to meet client objectives.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients in Portugal, fostering strong relationships and ensuring alignment with project goals.
  • Oversee the design and delivery of highly complex construction projects, applying structured and independent management approaches to ensure exceptional outcomes.
  • Drive the coordination and integration of MEP systems, ensuring efficiency, scalability, and compliance with safety and industry standards.
  • Take ownership of cost, schedule, and quality compliance, ensuring projects are delivered within budget, on time, and to the highest standards.
  • Manage day-to-day construction site activities and ensure compliance with drawings, specifications, and codes.
  • Supervise contractors and monitor progress against programme and budget.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory regulations, permits, licenses, and safety requirements.
  • Liaise with authorities for inspections, approvals, and certifications.
  • Oversee testing, inspections, commissioning, and handover of MEP systems.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for MEP-related issues and coordinate stakeholders.
  • Provide progress updates, reports, and risk assessments to project leadership and client.
  • Facilitate solution-oriented collaboration among clients, consultants, contractors, and execution teams, with a focus on achieving optimal performance.
  • Apply professional soft skills in client management and leverage hard skills to utilize relevant software tools effectively.
  • Support colleagues at other locations, contributing to shared goals and fostering a culture of teamwork and innovation.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Building Services, or related engineering discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience (6+ years) as an MEP Project Manager in construction, preferably with a focus on Data Centers or other large-scale infrastructure projects
  • Proven experience delivering complex national and international industrial construction projects, ideally within high-tech, data center, or semiconductor sectors.
  • Strong knowledge of MEP systems, building codes, licensing procedures, and permitting processes in Portugal.
  • Familiarity with local authority regulations and requirements for utilities.
  • Exceptional diplomatic skills and professional demeanor, with the ability to manage clients and stakeholders effectively.
  • Independent, goal-oriented work style combined with strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to oversee complex design and execution processes.
  • Fluency in Portuguese and English, both written and verbal, is essential.
  • Willingness to travel within Portugal and abroad as required for project demands.
  • Experience in consultancy and PMP Certification is considered a plus, but not a requirement.
