Aga Khan University invites applications for the position of Lecturer (Social Sciences) for the Faculty of Arts and Sciences.

Responsibilities:

You Will Be Responsible For:

Teaching And Learning:

• Teach first-year foundational courses in the social sciences.
• Offer lower- and upper-level electives in the Social Development Studies major.
• Deliver undergraduate courses in quantitative methods for social sciences.
• Supervise undergraduate projects and support student research development.
• Contribute to curriculum design, pedagogical innovation, and experiential learning initiatives.

Research, Scholarship, And Practice:

• Maintain an active engagement with scholarship or applied professional practice in the social sciences.
• Where possible, contribute to interdisciplinary projects and collaborations.
• Explore opportunities for pedagogical or applied research in social development and related fields.

Service And Engagement:

• Participate in programme development, student advising, and academic governance.
• Serve on university committees and contribute to outreach and community engagement.
• Support a collaborative and innovative teaching culture within the faculty.

Requirements:

You Should Have:

• Master’s degree in a relevant social science discipline (e.g., Sociology, Development Studies, Political Science, Economics, Anthropology, or related fields).
• Demonstrated ability to teach at the undergraduate level, including large foundational courses.
• Capacity to teach quantitative methods for social sciences (introductory and/or advanced).
• Evidence of scholarly engagement, applied research, or professional practice.
• Commitment to interdisciplinary liberal arts education.

• Ability to bridge quantitative and qualitative approaches in teaching.
