The Director of the Quality Improvement Program at UI Health Care provides system-wide leadership to improve clinical outcomes, enhance value, and minimize patient harm. Reporting to the Chief Quality Officer (CQO), this role oversees quality measurement, patient safety, infection prevention, external reporting, national data registries, and daily program operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and maintain the organizational structure of the Quality Improvement Program to achieve system goals.
- Oversee external reporting of quality and safety metrics and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
- Direct the patient safety program, including event reporting, investigations, action planning, and staff education.
- Administer national registries and partner with clinical leaders to use performance data for improvement.
- Collaborate with Hospital Epidemiology to support infection prevention and control across the system.
- Drive major system-level quality and safety initiatives.
- Manage and develop staff to foster talent and program growth.
- Direct the quality improvement engineer program, providing advisement and guidance on strategic initiatives and general performance improvement projects for the health system

Qualifications
Qualifications:
- A master’s degree in Hospital Health Administration, Public Health, Business, Nursing or a related field is required.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in administration in a hospital setting is required.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Power Point and Excel is required.
- Considerable knowledge of accounting principles and applications is required.
- Professional job-related experience fostering or promoting a welcoming and respectful work environment where people of all backgrounds and perspectives feel welcomed and appreciated.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
- RN license or equivalent experience in direct patient care strongly desired.
- Previous work experience at an academic health center is strongly desired.
- Some knowledge of University and Regent policies, procedures, and regulations is desirable.
- Demonstrated knowledge of healthcare outcomes and performance improvement issues/techniques is desired.
- Formal continuing education in performance improvement techniques, such as TQM, Six Sigma, or similar nationally recognized techniques is desired.
