Description
The Project Coordinator will plan, execute, monitor and close-out projects in support of the development and delivery of assessments produced by Iowa Testing Programs (ITP). Projects may include: Coordinating the creation, review, editing, and publishing of materials ancillary to the assessments (e.g. user manuals, FAQ’s, interpretive guides, etc.); Managing the logistics of planning and hosting meetings of advisory panels and committees; and leading ITP’s Customer Support efforts.
Specific Job Duties And Tasks:
- Support critical operational phases of the Iowa Statewide Assessment of Student Progress (ISASP) program, including:
- Lead ITP Web update cycle(s)
- K-12 Assessment Systems Research
- Execute projects for the annual review and updating of Training Resources (manuals, slide decks, live presentations, and webinars).
- Plan for ITP-hosted meetings, based on scheduled dates and invited participants
- Assume primary responsibility as ITP interface between vendor(s) and Iowa districts and schools for routine assessment questions (password reset, ordering additional materials, providing guidance), with a focus on the Iowa Statewide Assessment of Student Progress (ISASP).
- Lead the coordination efforts to provide accommodated materials to student populations (blind, visually impaired, ELLs, students with IEP’s).
- Annually (or more frequently) review and revise FAQs.
- Collect, organize and archive student assessment data needed to support invoicing.
- Participating in team reviews of ISASP training modules and administration manuals.
- Scheduling, tracking, and following up on required Test Coordinator tasks such as completing the testing mode survey for student data uploads, resolving rejected student test errors, and securing paper test materials.
- Actively survey and monitor developments in other states’ K-12 test administration programs.
- Suggest enhancements to ISASP based on developments in the field.
- Secure meeting space
- Make travel, lodging, and meal arrangements.
- Process payments for expense reimbursements and stipends.

Iowa Testing Programs (ITP) has been part of the University of Iowa’s College of Education for over 90 years. From its inception, ITP’s mission has been to serve Iowa schools’ assessment needs by developing high-quality instruments and to work with schools to promote valid use of results. ITP also pursues: Research that improves the practice of educational measurement. Design and development of assessments that provide information for a variety of purposes and audiences. And outreach that delivers assessment results and supports use of assessment information by local, state, national, and international audiences.
Qualifications
Education Requirement:
- Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of relevant work experience and education.
Required Qualifications:
- Project or program management experience. Typical experience is 1 – 3 years.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience in K-12 large-scale assessments.
- Experience using one or more of formalized Project Management Methodology (Six Sigma, Lean, Agile, TQM, PMBOK, CPM, CMMI, etc.)
