Dist LocalGov Projects Coord I or II - Waco - (2502622) Position Information 
  • TxDOT's Waco District Transportation Planning and Development – Planning and Programming Section 
  • is looking for a Local Government Project Coordinator.
  • In this position, you will get to be involved in the review of design activities, funding agreements, 
  • project authorizations, reimbursements, project close outs, and much more. Our Local Government project office 
  • enjoys stable work schedules conducted during normal business hours. Overtime, weekend, or night-time
  • work may be occasionally needed, but only on rare occasions. This position is located in Waco.  

Depending on qualifications and experience, the starting pay for this position will be $50,000 - $70,000 per year. 

 

Minimum Salary

: 48,244.00  

Maximum Salary

: 87,046.00

Position Description

 

Assists with coordinating local government managed projects with federal or state funds in accordance with laws, regulations, policies, and procedures. Work includes overseeing these projects through all applicable phases of project development (planning, environmental, right of way, design, letting, construction, and project close out). Usually reports to the Director of Transportation Planning & Development or other staff level manager. Work requires contact with high level government officials, agencies, and the public. 
 

  • Essential Duties:
  •  Dist LocalGov Project Coordinator I and II:
  • - Monitors the performance of local government agencies on transportation projects with Federal or State funds in
  • accordance with laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • - Processes local government reimbursement requests for various programs in accordance with all laws, regulations,
  • policies, and procedures.
  • - Maintains financial database tracking funding obligations, expenditures, and commitments.
  • - Participates in plans, specifications, and estimates development for local government projects.
  • - Assists with drafting funding agreements.
  • - Assists with construction and financial closeouts for projects.
  • - Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.
  • In addition to the above-mentioned responsibilities, a Dist LocalGov Project Coordinator II will be expected to:
  • - Prepares special reports and correspondence; prepares and makes presentations.
  • - Performs project monitoring and data collection to determine if a project is progressing according to budget.
 

Minimum Qualifications:

Dist LocalGov Project Coordinator I:
Education:  Bachelor's Degree in a related discipline
Experience: 4 years project or program management activities. (Experience can be satisfied by fulltime or prorated part-time equivalent)
-Relevant experience may be substituted for education on a year per year basis or related graduate level education may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis. Substitutions for Minimum Qualifications

Dist LocalGov Project Coordinator II:
Education:  Bachelor's Degree in a related discipline
Experience: 5 years project or program management activities. (Experience can be satisfied by fulltime or prorated part-time equivalent)
-Relevant experience may be substituted for education on a year per year basis or related graduate level education may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis. Substitutions for Minimum Qualifications
 

  • Licenses and Certifications:
  • Valid driver’s license. This position requires driving a state vehicle.

Preferred Qualifications:    Competencies:

  • Knowledge of:
  • - Applicable project development (planning, environmental, right of way, design, letting, construction, and project close
  • out) document preparation, review, processing and compliance requirements
  • - Contract negotiation, development and management methods
  • - DBE Program
  • - State and federal transportation rules and regulations

Skill in:
- Public relations for maintaining effective working relationships with individuals and groups, both internal and external
- The use of project management tools
- Prioritizing and organizing work assignments
- Preparing and maintaining confidential and sensitive records, files and reports
- Negotiating settlement of differences without damaging relationships; applying effective questioning and listening
techniques to determine other parties' positions in a direct and diplomatic manner
- Leading projects and project teams

Physical Requirements And Working Conditions:

- Sedentary work: Lift up to 10 lbs at a time and occasionally carry files/small tools
- Repetitive Motion-substantial movements of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers
- Close Visual Acuity-work includes data/figures; view a computer screen; extensive reading
