JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking an interviewer who will support a research program that works at the intersection of infectious diseases and substance use. This role is primarily responsible for working with persons who are living with or at risk for HIV along with other infectious diseases who have opioid use and stimulant disorders and have experience with justice involvement. The interviewer will help research participants to access treatment for substance use disorders and HIV infection treatment and prevention and will assist them in addressing other identified issues/needs.

Experience And Educationrequired
- EducationHigh School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Experience1 year clerical experience in direct patient care services delivery system or health and human services organization or government agency.
Job Duties
- Screens patients using effective oral communications to determine patient's eligibility for research study; follows specific written criteria developed as part of research study design to elicit and obtain medical history.
- Conducts face-to-face interviews with patients through use of study questionnaire, which is completed as patient is interviewed.
- Conducts follow-up telephone or video conference interviews of patients who have been enrolled in study; completes study questionnaire while talking to study subject.
- Conducts tracking procedures (defined by study) to recontact respondents at specific time intervals (defined by study) for additional interviews; maintains systematic written logs, which include days and times of attempted contact.
- Conducts more intensive tracking procedures for patients unavailable by telephone; mails letters to respondents and maintains accurate written records of attempted contacts by mail; may visit respondent's home to conduct face-to-face interviews if necessary.
- May perform one or more of the following clinical or research assistance duties, such as taking, recording, and reporting vital signs using medical diagnostic equipment; performing occasional venipuncture; measuring height and weight; performing electrocardiograms and similar tests; procure, process, and ship laboratory samples, such as blood or other bodily fluids; managing data for clinical trials.
- May provide coaching or motivation in mid- and long-term trials requiring regular or ongoing active participation or behaviors on the part of the patient.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
