Key Accountabilities
- Coordinate with vessels and procurement officers to monitor purchase requisitions, verify requirements, and process orders promptly, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery of goods.
- Maintain and update vessel-wise status reports, track procurement progress, highlight delays or issues, and provide accurate, timely information to management for effective decision-making.
- Prioritize purchase requisitions according to operational criticality, follow up with relevant teams, monitor progress, and ensure timely action to prevent delays in vessel and company operations.
- Identify and liaise with suitable suppliers based on requisition details and technical specifications, evaluate options, ensure compliance, and facilitate procurement of Electrical, Mechanical, Services, and Safety Equipment items efficiently.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive supplier database, categorizing suppliers by brands and types, ensuring easy access, accurate records, and supporting efficient procurement and vendor management processes.
- Coordinate with vessels to share necessary technical drawings and specifications with suppliers, ensuring clarity, compliance, and timely procurement of materials and services for smooth operations.
- Support quotation analysis by performing technical evaluations, consulting with the Technical Superintendent, ensuring selected suppliers meet specifications, quality standards, and cost-effectiveness for procurement decisions.
- Review supplier quotations, identify those not meeting technical requirements, and escalate them promptly to relevant stakeholders to prevent procurement errors and ensure compliance.
- Collaborate with relevant teams to identify, analyze, and resolve vessel-specific system issues, ensuring minimal operational disruption, timely solutions, and effective communication across stakeholders.
- Conduct annual vendor evaluations by assessing quality, delivery, compliance, and performance metrics, providing feedback, and ensuring suppliers meet company standards for continued engagement.
- Ensure the unit strictly adheres to and live by company and group values at all times by acting as an example and encouraging others on the same and ensure Group OHS & CS policy is adhered to at all times.
- Perform additional duties commensurate with the current role, as and when requested by management.
Knowledge And Skills
- Certificate of Competency as Class 3 Marine Engineer, with a minimum of 1 year of sailing experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and ERP systems.
- Shore-based or offshore marine experience will be considered an added advantage.
- Awareness of import/export policies and logistics operations will be considered an added advantage.
