01 Telecommunications Tech

Provides hands-on assistance and troubleshoots all phone equipment failures and service issues for all health system users.

Demonstrates a thorough understanding of the capabilities and features of modern telephone switches, call accounting programs, telephone billing and equipment purchase, and phone/voice mail training. 

Provides training and technical expertise on usage of phone equipment and the voice mail system. Programs voice mailboxes for individual users and department trees.

Assists in assessing departmental performance and recommends new approaches, policies and procedures.  Implements and monitors compliance.   Effectively maintains all required records for the department. 

Assists, prepares and administers an operating budget, based on approved organizational goals and objectives.  Orders necessary supplies for telephony needs. 

Works with users to promote efficient and effective use of the phone system.

At least quarterly, assists in the quality control on all Code Blue Activators, Emergency Notification Alarms, and Overhead Paging and Power Failure equipment. 

Assists in maintaining the Amcom Database including “on-call” schedules and Smart Center functionality.  Assists in Maintaining the Call Accounting application database.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

• Associate’s Degree in related area (or experience equivalent).  Bachelor’s Degree in related area (or experience equivalent) preferred.

Experience:

• 2 Years experience with Telecommunications concepts.
• Licensure:
• Nortel Switch Certification preferred.

• Organizational skills to validate data obtained and expose new areas for process improvement.
• Interpersonal skills to help negotiate priorities and conflict resolution.  Proven vendor/service provider negotiation a necessity.
