Responsible for the provision and administration of specific mobility treatments under the direct supervision of the delegating rehab or nursing professional (PT, PTA, OT, COTA, ST, RN, LPN). Mobility Treatments include, but are not limited to: gait with appropriate assistive device, transfers, and exercises (both active and passive range of motion). The CNA Mobility Specialist as directed and supervised by the rehab or nursing professional, assists with restoration of patient functioning to prevent disability following injury, disease or physical disability. Assists patients to reach their maximum performance and level of functioning while learning to live within the limits of their capabilities. The CNA Mobility Specialist also participates in operational aspects of the department including, but not limited to: answering phones, cleaning rooms, stocking
rooms, ordering supplies, and participates in Performance Improvement activities.
Requirements
- Able to select the appropriate equipment method for patient transfers after considering patients precautions based on a training or use of algorithm.
- Demonstrates proper use of transfer equipment, mobility techniques, and bodymechanics during mobility.
- Provides safe mobility, with goal of progressing to mobility towards individual patient goal,following the care team procedures.
- Able to manage priorities when necessary and communicates well with care team and inter-disciplinary team.
- Documents and communicates mobility events to EMR of reach patient during and after shift following the established guidelines.
- Teaches staff on mobility and recruits their assistance when needed.
- Responds to call for assistance in customer friendly manner.
- May provide direct patient care with CNA licensure as needed and as time allows, during performance of mobility activities: i.e. setting patient tray for meals, self-cares, etc.
- Ability to monitor vital signs, maintains adequate knowledge base regarding cardiovascular and respiratory precautions for patient undergoing physical medicineservices and treatments.
- Participates in educational staff performance improvement in-services.
- Assists with orientation and in-services training for certified department staff members, participates in guidance and educational program.
- Demonstrates an ability to be flexible, organized and function under stressful situations.
- Adheres to facility Service Standards and performs other duties as assigned.
- Communicates any changes in condition (physical or mental) to supervising therapist, nursing and other hospital personnel as appropriate.
- Orients new employees when necessary.
- Responds promptly to changes in workload, adjusting assignments as necessary to achieve optimal productivity, efficiency and fiscal responsibility.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
