Your Future Role
An exciting opportunity has become available to join our team as the Workers Compensation & Injury Management Lead for Australia & New Zealand. Reporting to the EHS & Rail Safety Director, you will act as the subject expert and will be responsible for leading the workers compensation and injury management program. This role will ideally be based in our Melbourne CBD office, but can also be located in North Sydney. Some travel to sites and offices across Australia, may be required.
We’Ll Look To You For:
- Documentation & Compliance: Maintaining and updating technical procedures and forms for Workers Compensation & Injury Management in line with legislation and company standards.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Working closely with HR, Payroll, Legal, Industrial Relations, EHS, and third-party brokers to manage claims, wage adjustments, legal cases, and return-to-work strategies.
- Insurance & Premium Oversight: Developing strategies for premium forecasting and reductions, ensure timely policy payments and wage declarations, and negotiate renewals.
- Claims Management: Conducting audits, ensure accurate work coding, submit claims promptly, and liaise with external stakeholders including legal and medical professionals.
- Reporting & Analysis: Delivering monthly dashboards, trend analyses, and site-level claims reviews to monitor cost impacts and claim statuses.
- System Administration & Training: Supporting system development and migration, conduct audits, maintain case files, and deliver multi-level training programs.
- Legislative Monitoring: Staying updated on regulatory changes and inform relevant safety and governance leaders.

- Demonstrated ability to coach, advise, and guide people leaders.
- High level conceptual and analytical skills, with a demonstrated ability to analyze complex issues and to solve difficult problems.
- Deep technical knowledge and understanding of workers' compensation and injury management laws, codes, standards, and associated obligations.
- Extensive experience managing workers' compensation and injury management across multi-site and multi-jurisdictional environments
- Return to work coordinator Accreditation or equivalent.
- Tertiary qualifications in occupational, medical or allied health (Preferred).
