General Summary

Works under the supervision of the Pharmacy Director and Inpatient Pharmacy Manager.  The primary job function of the Registered Pharmacist USP 797 and USP 800 Assistant Manager is to maintain compliance with USP 797 and USP 800. 

Qualifications

Education:

  • High School Diploma or successful completion of an equivalent High School Exam required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy (5 year) required.
  • Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm D) is also preferred.

Experience:

  • Previous leadership experience preferred.
  • Previous community pharmacy experience preferred.

JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES AND PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS

The following is a summary of the major job duties of this job. Other duties may be performed, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below. Specific activities may change from time to time. 

  1. Assists the pharmacy manager with introductory and annual performance appraisals of pharmacists, lead technicians, and MLTs.
  2. Schedules the inpatient pharmacists and the cancer center pharmacists. 
  3. Maintains the inpatient pharmacy dashboard.
  4. Participates in and leads some daily huddles.
  5. Collaborates with the clinical team regarding new clinical care initiatives. 
  6. Assists in leading clinical meetings.
  7. Maintains compliance with USP 797, USP 800, State Board of Pharmacy rules and regulations, and Joint Commission medication management standards and national patient safety goals related to USP 797 and USP 800.
  8. Works with microbiology on any viable IV room air or IV room surface sample failure 
  9. Works with the lead IV room technician to analyze all USP 797 staff competencies.
  10. Assists the pharmacy manager in hiring new staff members.
